My role is focused on providing our colleagues with better or more efficient technological solutions, which they use to interact with our customers. This helps to provide a better experience and journey for both colleagues and customers.
After graduating with a degree in Computing for Internet and Multimedia in 2015, I took on a Business Development role for a local company. The role gave me great experience and exposure and from there I decided to branch out on my own and become a self-employed contractor in marketing, web design and event management. During this time I developed an interest in Cyber Security which lead me to look into tech focused graduate schemes and I was attracted to working for Barclays as it provided an opportunity to work in a company with a great culture and one that has always been at the forefront of banking technology in the UK – we were the first UK bank to embrace a number of technologies including introducing an electronic computer, the first cash machine and debit card and the first UK app to provide a mobile-to-mobile payments service.
I enjoy the role as it’s really diverse and the skills I’m developing are transferable
I joined Barclays on the Technology Graduate programme in August 2019 and have taken on the position of Technical Business Analyst. I enjoy the role as it’s really diverse and the skills I’m developing are transferable across many different technologies and areas within Barclays.
My role is focused on providing our colleagues with better or more efficient technological solutions, which they use to interact with our customers. This helps to provide a better experience and journey for both colleagues and customers. During my time on programme I have been involved in many different projects and had the opportunity to work with senior business stakeholders, colleagues and vendors throughout the rest of the UK, India, Geneva, Monaco, Ireland and Dubai and the US. My main focus has been the roll out of the new Salesforce CRM to Wealth (UK) and I have also been involved in providing a new way for our colleagues to interact with Wealth clients virtually and to provide eSignatures.
Working at Barclays has seen me further develop my communication skills as it’s key that I can articulate and communicate effectively in a way that puts our colleagues and stakeholders at ease with technical concepts. I’ve also enjoyed the challenge of juggling simultaneous projects.
Outside of my day-to-day role, I represent my colleagues as a Culture Eagle for BUK to help shape Barclays culture. I have completed training to become a Barclays Cyber Champion and was involved in helping run a Cyber Crisis War Games workshop for internal colleagues. I’m also part of the Reverse Mentorship Programme where I mentor with one of our Sky Branch Directors which has given me a fantastic insight into this area of the business.
To support our community, I volunteer with Life Skills and been involved in an Early Careers Workshop for high school students. I also support the Graduate team by attending events to promote the Graduate programme. I am part of the Digital Eagle programme and enjoy helping customers get the most out of digital.
