Learn about Marquise's experience since joining in 2018

After interning with the People Analytics and Culture team in 2018, it was a no-brainer that I wanted to start my career at Barclays. I returned full-time on the HR graduate program, rotating through several different teams and enjoying plenty of early responsibility.

 I remember on one of my first rotations getting to lead on a search for a Managing Director in a critical role, and delivering in record time. It made me feel amazing and it truly dispelled any preconceived notions that I had about my impact as a graduate. I’ve since played a key role in strategic projects for the business, working with many senior leaders.

Your opinion is valued, no matter your level.

 I’m now in the Development team, and we focus on delivering learning and leadership development opportunities to all colleagues across the bank. It’s so rewarding when we hear how our work has helped people get the promotion they wanted, or become more confident in their role.

 I’d say the most challenging part of what I do is being able to quickly adapt to each of my rotations. But while it can be tough in the moment, it also creates opportunities to broaden my network and learn a whole variety of skills. It’s how I’m able to connect the dots and see how HR truly supports the bank’s wider strategy.

 As for Barclays’ culture, I’d describe it as very open: your opinion is valued, no matter your level. Barclays truly want to see you succeed and make positive change, and they’ll support you in achieving that. It makes me proud to work for an organisation that values diverse perspectives through inclusive leadership.
