With both excitement and challenges, Amelia details her life as a Graduate

Amelia was a junior at Princeton University when she interviewed for a Barclays internship in the summer of 2016. Even at that stage —before she accepted the internship offer — Amelia sensed that Barclays was a special place. "When I was interviewing, Barclays invited me to an on-site multi day program in which I met many representatives and learned more about the business and the internship program in particular. I was so impressed with how much Barclays was willing to invest in the next generation. Throughout the internship, I noticed the same culture," she says. "I knew I wanted to work at a firm that celebrates collaboration and teamwork and Barclays perfectly fit that description."

Upon graduating in 2017, Amelia accepted a position as a Barclays Foreign Exchange Sales Analyst. Her experience in this role has confirmed that Barclays' culture is all about collaboration. She and her team work together daily to provide the best services for their clients, who are located around the globe.

I knew I wanted to work at a firm that celebrates collaboration and teamwork and Barclays perfectly fit that description.

Every day is dynamic, Amelia says, creating both excitement and challenges in her role. She arrives at the office and starts each day by reading market recaps to catch up on what happened in the overnight session and then produce summaries for clients, but she points out that each day is also unique. "Every day I come in and there's a different region, currency or FX product that's in focus," she says. "The markets role is very dynamic, and as a result I am challenged every day and there is infinite potential to learn."

Amelia loves working with her team and colleagues from other departments, and she has some advice for internship and job-seekers alike. "Factor in heavily the people that you will be working with," she says. "Especially in sales and trading, you'll be sitting in close quarters with your team and will spend a lot of time together. You want to like and trust the people you work with."
