Hybrid Working 
Structured hybrid role:    
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

The Risk and Control SME role is responsible for ensuring the Barclays Control Framework is applied across the TC01 to ensure an effective and robust control environment. The Rigour Manager has accountability for driving quality risk management and assurance in line with Group policies, standards and methodologies; facilitating improvements to the framework, control environment and culture through the deployment of enhancements and best practice. This area carries a high level of risk and scrutiny from the regulators and therefore has multiple audits from different areas therefore negotiation and influence skills are key.

What will you be doing?
•    Support the identification of new and emerging risks and design of a suitable yet commercial control environment to provide protection.
•    Support the identification and resolution of control issues and themes including managing the resolution of audit and other BU control issues
•    Responsible for the implementation and management of the internal control framework that promotes a strong self-assessment culture and ownership by the line managers across the operations.
•    Responsible for proving the effectiveness and robustness of the control environment and control culture through self-testing, conformance review testing from second line of defence , audits from third line of defence and external regulatory audits.
•    Maintain a detailed understanding of the Barclays Control Framework and other relevant Policies and be able to interpret these to ensure they are applied and embedded.
•    Responsible for leading and co-ordinating 1st/2nd and 3rd line reviews
•    Responsible for managing issue remediation through the life cycle 
•    Collaborate with the wider Operational Rigour team and business operations in proving the effectiveness and robustness of the control environment and control culture through self-testing, conformance review testing from second line of defence , audits from third line of defence and external regulatory audits.
Act as an escalation point and point of contact for the Business aligned control teams

What we’re looking for:
•    The role holder will have excellent knowledge of Operational Risk & Controls and/or audit in a highly regulated business environment and a practical knowledge of internal controls, including the development and maintenance of appropriate framework and related MI/KRIs. 
•    The role holder will have experience of banking and financial services preferably in a Financial Crime role with Financial Crime regulations and policies.
•    To have, or the ability to develop, a strong understanding of Financial Crime regulations and policies (AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption). 
•    Degree level qualification or equivalent, with Risk and Control certification (IRM) preferred
•    Will have strong Stakeholder management experience including strong ability to negotiate and influence cross function and both internally and externally to Barclays. 

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Certification acquired in Operation Risk Management (ORM) Certificate is preferred
