The purpose of this role is: Conduct Impairment oversight to ensure that balance sheet has adequate coverage against expected risk, identify new opportunities to rationalize impairment/capital, production of short term forecasting and production of outlooks, measurement of forecast vs. actuals performance, portfolio analytics to help understand drivers of impairment/RWAs (Risk Weighted Assets) and support implementation of new models and policies.

The work carried out within the role can be broken down into three “layers”:

1.    Data - Colleagues need to have a deep knowledge of data sources to carry out risk measurement analyses.  Detailed knowledge of risk data is required (particularly risk measurement and portfolio risk data) as well as understanding of techniques and ideas to streamline and optimise risk measurement activities and processes. Where required, support will be provided to help colleagues build up their knowledge in this area.
2.    Analysis - Ability to carry out detailed and highly complex analyses to understand portfolio performance and drivers of capital.  
3.    Communication - Results of analyses will need to be presented to senior stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) in a clear and concise manner.

What will you be doing?

•    Provide comprehensive Impairment oversight along with check and challenge to ensure adequate Impairment provision as per IFRS9 standard. 
•    Work on projects related to adequate impairment/capital, identify new opportunities to rationalize impairment/capital 
•    Manage impairment forecasting and stress testing models to support submissions under key Barclays internal and regulatory exercises
•    Work closely with CRO & CFO to agree relevant business inputs for the forecasts/stress tests
•    Present and communicate results to Senior Management and drive stakeholder discussions
•    Ensure compliance and appropriate governance is followed in producing results and evidence stored.
•    Transform high-level requests into focussed and specific analysis
•    Synthesise analysis results to inform business issues
•    Extend/ modify analysis based on observations/ knowledge of data and limitations, and implications of results
•    Contribute to business development activities 

What we’re looking for:

•    A degree in an analytical/business related discipline
•    Analytical skills: problem-structuring, hypothesis testing via data analysis.
•    Data management/analysis skills, with experience in usage of widely known commercially and open-source available data processing software (SAS, SQL, etc.).
•    Team working and stakeholder management across all levels.
•    Project management skills to ensure delivery across multitude of tasks, by enabling pragmatic prioritization across the team.

•    Knowledge of Credit risk management in retail lending
•    Knowledge of Capital regulatory standards (CRDIV)
•    Knowledge of Impairment provisioning standards (IFRS9)
•    Forecasting, portfolio risk management, risk modelling technique knowledge
•    Knowledge of financial services industry and market
