Asset & Liability Manager

As a Barclays Asset & Liability Manager, you will have an exciting opportunity to join a team that interact on a daily basis with teams across the Europe, UK and India. Specifically, you will help with the identification of IRRBB/CSRBB balance sheet and ensuring that these risks and associated P&L are appropriately mitigated through a holistic strategy which is optimised against the prevailing market environment.  You will also support with thorough review of quarterly regulatory reporting and regulatory requests.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). What will you be doing?
•    Reviewing of monthly reporting process and associated quarterly regulatory reporting requirements 
•    Designing, developing and taking care of documentation of key hedging strategies to mitigate identified risks 
•    Engaging with stakeholders internal to Barclays Europe as well as across the wider Group ALM centres of excellence, including Directors and MD’s across the ALM, Treasury and Risk functions
•    Helping the business in understanding their interest rate risk, p&l and new product appraisals, ensuring that any new risks being introduced are identified, communicated and assessed 
•    Providing clear and concise explanation of the evolving ALM position to the Head of ALM and Treasurer, decomposed by movements in the balance sheet and external market environment 
•    Reviewing the entity balance sheet to ensure that all IRRBB exposures are being captured, assessed and managed appropriately 
•    Working closely with Treasury colleagues to ensure the impact of initiatives across other disciplines on ALM is well understood and, where relevant, captured within new business activity 
•    Developing a robust control mindset, including timely review of all assumptions and annual reviews 

What we’re looking for:
•    Interest rate risk measurement, management and reporting, including detailed knowledge on the concept of structural hedging and practical techniques to manage this risk
•    An excellent communicator, well organised and self-motivated with good decision-making skills
•    Highly analytical, numerate and accurate
•    A numeric degree or professional qualification

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    A good understanding of the impact of monetary policy in the banking sector, particularly in the EU
•    Knowledge of hedge accounting and how it can be utilised to manage the accounting risk arising from banking book management
•    Conceptual knowledge of credit spread risk

Where will you be working?
You will be based in our new flagship office, One Molesworth Street, which is in the heart of Dublin city centre. We are currently expanding which drives a culture of change and hard work ethic, nonetheless the company maintains an open, friendly atmosphere.  This is enhanced through our unique on-boarding programs and a number of committees which all employees are eligible to join.
