As a Barclays ACS (Assistant Company Secretary) this is an exciting opportunity where you’ll play a key role in the European Corporate Secretariat providing professional corporate governance and aid services to the BE Board and its Commissions. You will ensure that Barclays European branches and subsidiaries are managed effectively and in accordance with Barclays Group Standards and Policies and you will act as point of contact for non-executive Directors and their office.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month, or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally can request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. What will you be doing?
•    Helping the production of chairman’s briefs, action logs and managing minutes processes 
•    Replying to queries from the business in relation to Board processes, papers and timelines
•    Formatting and editing high quality Board and Committee papers which follow house style guidelines using Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•    Acting as a principal point of contact for non-executive Directors and their offices for ad hoc queries and requests 
•    Handling incoming mail/email for non-executive Directors 
•    Leading and asserting overseeing arrangements for payment of non-executive Director fees and personal expenses 
•    Maintaining the Director Support Calendar and ensure meetings and key dates/deadlines are recorded
•    Assisting with compilation and distribution of Directors’ half and full year declarations and sign offs in line with arranged deadlines 

What we’re looking for: 
•    Skill to prioritize workload and remain calm under pressure.
•    Ability to build good relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, demonstrating confidence in dealing with senior executives and board members.
•    High level of PC skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
•    Good academic background with a 2:1 or equivalent from university.

Skills that will help you in the role
•    Proven ability to be a self-starter and working across business to deliver projects.
•    Experience of managing and setting deadlines for projects/actions that are generated externally that requires company secretariat input.
•    Knowledge of working in the financial services sector.
•    Self-motivated. Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

You will be based in our new flagship office, One Molesworth Street, which is in the heart of Dublin city centre. We are currently expanding which drives a culture of change and hard work ethic, nonetheless the company maintains an open, friendly atmosphere.  This is enhanced through our unique onboarding programs and a number of committees which all employees are eligible to join.
