Software Engineer

As a Barclays Software Engineer, you will work in the Proprietary Card Payment Gateway team within Cards & Payments. This team is responsible for the development and operation of a 24/7 card payment service which is used by many well-known UK-based businesses. The Gateway team is constantly extending the functionality of the service, offering new features, keeping it abreast of contemporary payment methods and in compliance with the rules set out by the card schemes.

What will you be doing?
• Working as a member of an Agile development team
• Implementing new functionality to meet the ever-changing demands of the payments landscape
• Developing automated tests and automated deployment of components
• Developing technically robust, easy-to-maintain and easy-to-scale solutions
• Providing accurate estimates to develop well-engineered code that meets acceptance criteria 
• Working closely with other team members in a globally-distributed team

What we’re looking for:
• Experience of engineering solutions in Java and associated technologies
• Appreciation of Object Oriented Design & Programming concepts, software delivery and deployment patterns (e.g. Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration)
• Ability to write User Stories and Features based on high-level requirements
• Experience working with modern CI/ CD pipelines

Skills that will help you in the role:
• University qualification in Digital, Computing or Technology related subjects
• Experience of software development within the Payment Industry
• Experience working in a highly regulated environment; appreciation of the importance of compliance, security and quality
• Experience delivering solutions in an Agile environment (ideally SAFe)

Where will you be working?
Situated in the heart of Fleet, Logic house is easily accessible by both public and personal transport.  It is located 2 minutes’ walk from the railway station – with regular services to Basingstoke, Woking & London – and less than 5 minutes’ drive from the M3. Parking is provided for permanent staff based at Logic House.
