About Insurance, Funds & Corporate Specialist Solutions
Insurance Funds & Corporate Specialist Solutions (IFC) is a global client coverage team within ICB and provide client origination and corporate bank relationship and product coverage of clients operating in the following sectors: Insurance companies, Private Equity, Asset Managers, Securitisation Accounts, Captive Insurance, & Escrow.
Key products covered are cash management, liquidity management, debt and working capital, trade and FX . The business operates internationally with key jurisdictions being UK, Western Europe, US and Asia. Clients are covered by named Relationship Directors where they are head-quartered and locally where IFC delivers banking product for them. Many clients are jointly covered by ICB IFC and the Investment Bank coverage and Markets teams.
IFC has seen significant growth over the past years. This has been achieved through a focus on developing a client relationship team with deep industry sector knowledge, clear strategy and risk appetite, strong performance driven culture combined with a franchise culture focussed on where IFC can provide value for our clients and the Group.
The IFC and ICB team has consistently delivered strong Your View results and the key performance metrics for the business (revenue, costs, client planning and returns) have all performed strongly.
Looking forward the opportunities for IFC are to work within the CIB construct to drive closer cooperation and coverage of the CIB client set and to build out and leverage people, product and infrastructure investments we are making in the ICB franchise for example Western Europe and the US.
Overall purpose of role
The Relationship Director will be responsible for helping to implement the IFC European business plan in Germany, assuming GRD responsibilities for new and existing clients, identifying new corridor revenue opportunities and building a book of locally-based clients on a highly selective basis. This strategy leverages the ICB rollout of the replacement of the Corporate Banking Digital Platform in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Belgium as well as our Corporate Bank capabilities in the UK, India & the UAE.
The role holder will be accountable for:
·Developing and implementing clear client strategies by IFC sector in-country focussing on Insurance/Re-Insurance, Asset Management and Funds.
·Owning a broad book of new and existing IFC client relationships in Germany.
·Work closely with Group partners in Corporate Bank, Investment Bank, Barclaycard, Wealth and Barclays UK to ensure client strategy is defined and executed in a way which delivers maximum value for Barclays Group and our clients.
·Deliver on strategic and ad hoc projects.
·Participate in business development activities with the broader market and KPIs, for example by engaging at a senior level with law firms, professional bodies and business forums, to include presenting and external speaking at industry events.

·Strong communicator with good leadership skills being able to engage and partner across Barclays. Demonstrate emotional intelligence in dealings with clients and colleagues.
·Working closely with IB coverage to ensure coordinated coverage of key clients, joint CIB client plans and agreement on the most effective CIB allocation and usage of capital for clients.

Risk and Control Objective

·Implement and comply with the credit risk appetite and CRMC mandate for the sectors and geography covered by the role.
·Responsible for the conformance of the local IFC business to global standards and high-risk governance policies and procedures.
Significant experience at senior leadership level in financial services organisation or equivalent with experience on an international scale:
·Good knowledge of financial services industry (including history, trends and future development) with experience from working with Insurance Funds & Corporate Specialist Solutionsparticularly Insurance/re-Insurance, Asset Manager and Fund.
·Ability to manage and respond to feedback on Barclays business performance from investors, financial institutions, regulators and auditors.
·Ability to maintain and enhance the standing of Corporate Banking within financial and wider markets;
·Established and evidenced leadership credentials, including leading through change.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
·Track record and experience of business building and growth in the IFC sectors with a proven ability to manage complex and relentless change
·Knowledge of complex Corporate Banking product suite including Debt, Trade and Working Capital, Cash and transactional products and FX;
·For this role a strong understanding of fund finance and in particular, subscription line/capital call facilities is highly appreciated.
·Broad knowledge of risk management and control and accounting policies and financial control.
·International experience is particularly valuable.
·Fluent in business English with additional languages being a plus.
