Global Contract Services Master Documentation Negotiator 
Glasgow/ Birmingham


As a Barclays Global Contract Services (GCS) Master Documentation Negotiator, you will be responsible for drafting, negotiating and executing various master trading documentation in support of the Barclays Markets business, including but not limited to Rates, Foreign Exchange, Credit, Equities serving, inter alios, established European, Asset Management Emerging Markets, Corporate, and Risk Solutions Group clients. You will also be involved in the negotiation of master trading documentation for the firm’s Markets business.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. What will you be doing?
•    Drafting, negotiating and executing capital markets contract documentation with an assigned portfolio of Barclays counterparties
•    Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and documentation risk controls, and adhering to associated guidelines and procedures 
•    Maintaining up-to-date, working knowledge of the products covered and applicable regulations
•    Conducting independent legal research and manage relationships with external counsel, where necessary, in accordance with Barclays requirements on external legal spend
•    Leading and identifying processes that can be improved around data capture, technology and documentation
•    Helping team members in managing negotiations with clients, including advising on know-how on possible approaches 
•    Drafting of variations and working closely with Markets lawyers on issues associated with those variations
•    Establishing and maintaining solid partnerships with relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Credit Risk, and Compliance) to ensure seamless completion of requests

What we’re looking for:
•    Bachelor’s Degree
•    Financial services experience, in legal or as a negotiator 
•    Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint


Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Experience and knowledge of the ISDA Master Agreement, the financial industry and Legal roles
•    French, Italian, Spanish speaker
•    Qualified lawyer in Scotland, England & Wales or other jurisdiction
•    Knowledge of current regulatory requirements affecting investment banks in the derivatives space and familiarity with regulatory project implementation
