Java Developer
Glasgow
As a Barclays Java Developer, this is an excellent opportunity to work in the Credit Risk IT department, where you will be part of a large developer community working on a set of tools and applications that cover all required use cases around managing and forecasting of Bank’s credit exposure profile.

What will you be doing?
• Agile development using Java, shell scripting, both for Windows and Linux OS, producing SOLID code with excellent test coverage
• Delivering solutions within a DevOps environment with a relentless focus on automation of testing and deployment via TeamCity
• Participating in software delivery process backed by Jira/Git/Bitbucket tooling with heavy emphasis on code reviews and team collaboration
• Problem solving and application of appropriate algorithm to coding task at hand
• Building relationships and rapport with wider team using main Credit Risk in-memory platform
What we’re looking for:
• Extensive Java experience covering Server side and client side development, Performance tuning and Multi-threading
• Appreciations of SOLID design principles and its effective application in practice
• Good knowledge of Shell scripting language
• Ability to follow Agile development best practice (preferably Scrum/Kanban) with effective application of Automation / DevOps best practices
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Sense of ownership, high level of independence, and willingness to go the extra mile
• Experience with In-memory distributed data and compute grids
• Hands-on experience of development for Apache Ignite/GridGain
