Equities and Corporate Derivatives Lawyer

As a Barclays Equities and Corporate Derivatives Lawyer, you will be accountable for the legal risk management of a wide variety of equities related and corporate derivatives and equity derivative transactions for the Asia pacific markets business. Your coverage includes corporate derivatives, cash equities, prime services, equity financing, equity derivatives and a range of cross border issues.

What will you be doing?

  • Providing legal advice required to support the Equities business and corporate derivatives business across APAC, excluding Japan
  • Structuring, regulatory treatment and drafting documentation for products and transactions executed across jurisdictions with many different counterparties
  • Focusing on equities and equity linked derivatives
  • Developing and maintain essential legal documentation including key templates used by the business
  • Leading and managing external counsel in jurisdictions across APAC, excluding Japan
  • Conducting review and risk analysis of new products and business proposals
  • Keeping abreast of new regulations and market practices relevant to the Equities’ business
  • Sharing responsibility for development of legal and compliance policy and procedures

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified lawyer with experience in corporate derivatives and Equities’ products in a top tier international financial institution or law firm
  • Experienced with ISDA documentation and product definitions such as ISDA equity derivative, and other industry standard master documentation (e.g. GMSLA and GMRA)
  • Solid legal risk management and communication skills with managing multiple stakeholders in the context of complex transactions and be a pro-active team player
  • Mandarin language skills

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Some experience with US, EU and/or Asia derivatives regulation
  • Genuine interest in this area of the law and has exposure to topical developments in regulatory changes and derivatives throughout Asia

Our offices are situated in the center of Hong Kong’s financial district, at 2 Queen’s Road. Cheung Kong Centre is an investment banking hub that offers panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Kowloon Peninsula.
