As a Barclays Trade and Working Capital (TWC) Originator, you will be playing an integral part of the Trade Origination Team covering International Corporates and Financial Institutions Group. The role holder will need to proactively support relationships with Key Accounts to increase Barclays share of their International Trade Business. Additionally, you will be accountable for reporting and pipeline management to fulfil business requirements and establish visibility across wider TWC leadership team.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?

• Managing and growing a portfolio of clients across Corporate & FIG in order to grow trade revenues for the franchise (i.e. onshore and outbound into our key corridors) 
• Identifying opportunities for onshore and clients who operate in Barclays’ footprint
• Working closely with Coverage Team to identify and optimise on trade opportunities and ensuring they are fit for purpose
• Participating in account planning and strategy for portfolio of clients, educating clients on operational procedures to encourage utilization
• Being accountable for end-to-end execution on facilities to drawdowns, understanding customer needs and working with Product Management to prioritize the query
• Working closely with colleagues across the network to deliver Barclays’ franchise
• Providing inputs to product development and design of marketing and sales materials founded on recommendations from the Trade Finance team
• Ensuring all sales and performance management measures (e.g. sales pipeline tool, databases) are adhered to the group requirements and updating the information

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor Degree Holder
• Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English
• Excellent knowledge of Trade Finance products with 5 years minimum experience in a front office role dealing with Trade Finance
• Experience in pitching Trade Finance solutions with good understanding of working capital needs

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Trade Finance related qualifications with Asia regional experience
• Technical knowledge of documentary trade and all the relevant ICC Guidelines with good understanding of operational procedure will be an added advantage
• An individual that is familiar with Corporate & Investment Banking construct

Our offices are situated in the center of Hong Kong’s financial district, at 2 Queen’s Road. Cheung Kong Centre is an investment banking hub that offers panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Kowloon Peninsula. There is a variety of local amenities and you will be just a short walk from shopping malls, health clubs and multiple transport links.
