Hybrid Working

About Corporate Digital Banking Technology

Provides our Corporate clients with a modern digital banking proposition by offering front to back, real-time and smart self-serve digital services supporting cash, debt, trade, liquidity and FX.

We use the very latest technologies and ways of working to provide a secure, seamless and consistent digital ecosystem across all our channels and services.

We are looking for gifted technologists to join our team to continue to build the best in class technology solutions and drive the adoption of the next generation of digital channels while ensuring we maintain the very highest level of resiliency and availability for our clients. 

Overall purpose of role

The role holder will lead the global technology engineering teams responsible for building and maintain the next generation of the Online Digital Client payments system for Corporate, a team size of over 100 people.This role requires a deep understanding of financial technology, corporate and investment banking and exceptional programme management skills. It is pivotal in ensuring we deliver against our MGI commitments and support the firm’s revenue ambitions while improving the services for our existing client base. 

Key Accountabilities

Manage and deliver all changes made on the Digital Client Payments Application (DCP) ensuring that the team support multiple projects simultaneously and leading a large team that will use the latest technology and methodologies to deliver business outcomes for the Corporate Bank.

·Creating and managing programme plans against agreed business cases from inception through delivery to closure, partnering the Accountable Executive and ensuring that we deliver technology solutions accurately.

·Lead the engineering development teams responsible for building and maintaining digital applications and services.

·Accountable for the quality and robustness of the digital applications and platforms.

·Drive the adoption of contemporary engineering techniques to deliver solutions consistently across all teams.

·Ensure an agreed architectural roadmap is in place aligned with Corporate and Group strategy

·Manage all risk within the platform ensuring transparency and alignment to group risk processes

·Manage the required cross-skilling and re-skilling of the organisation to be proficient in the new tools and techniques

·Help define and deliver the developer experience for the Corporate Digital Bank.

·Apply innovative thinking to support the business & technology in delivering its strategic objectives in line with group wide IT Strategies.

·Lead the teams technically so they fully understanding the underlying systems, tools and processes to ensure that the required transformation is delivered.

·Provide thought leadership on the transformation and have the ability to evolve, modify and adapt the strategy as things change.

·Drive adoption of modern development tools including BDD, DevOps adoption, agile working practices and cloud adoption.

·Apply experience and knowledge of industry trends to drive best use within the Corporate Bank.

·Managing the L3 support activities and lead the response to production incidents.

·Manage talent and help grow leadership within the Engineering department

·Manage multiple stakeholders locally and globally including at Managing Director level.

·Ensure all team members understand their roles and celebrate success.

Person Specification

Programme Managers at Barclays require competence across the following areas:

·Team Management and development: Lead, manage and develop the team in the most effective and efficient manner, including building a culture to deliver performance consistent with the Values and embedding the Barclays Mindset. In addition, designing an optimum operating model to support the delivery of efficient outcomes for customers/clients. Responsibility for creating an environment that is open to challenge and where a risk aware culture thrives at all times. Responsible for both what the team does and also how the team achieves this. A culture of accelerating and improving what we do must be achieved while embracing how we do this in the right way, balancing the many priorities, cost, service excellence and other implications such that our reputation is continually enhanced.

·Change leadership: The ability to inspire, coach and empower others to deliver on a shared vision and outcomes for transformational change: leading by example and building strong relationships.

·Stakeholder and communications management: The ability to effectively communicate with, influence and manage stakeholders at all levels, taking account of their levels of influence and interest. This includes identifying, addressing and resolving differences between individuals and/or interest groups, using suitable channels for achieving clear outcomes, consensus and conflict resolution.

·Requirements Management and Solutions Development: The ability to understand and interpret the requirements, specifications and propose a technical solution.

·Financial management: The ability to input into the relevant financial planning processes, agreeing budgets for change initiatives before developing a granular view of costs versus agreed outcomes and timings. This includes being cost / value aware, tracking costs versus budget, reforecasting when necessary, explaining variances and identifying risks. For programmes and portfolios, this includes monitoring aggregated cost profiles against budget, balancing under / over spend as appropriate.

·Supplier Management: The ability to secure the provision of any resources (i.e. products or services including workforce, software, hardware) needed for change initiative(s) from either internal and/or external providers - agreeing contracts, monitoring compliance, and managing variances and risks.

·Outcomes and benefits management: The ability to identify, define, evaluate, plan, track and realise the outcomes andbenefits of change initiatives. This includes determining a realistic assessment of what is achievable by when along with the links and dependencies; defining the key metrics / measures associated with benefits and outcomes; linking organisational value back to initiative outputs; defining how benefits will continue to be achieved in BAU beyond initiative closure.

·Business Readiness Planning: The ability to describe the steps needed to ensure any change delivered by an initiative is implemented successfully and effectively by the impacted business or service area. This includes defining a Business Readiness Plan, ensuring that any steps that need to be considered are identified and actioned appropriately. Effective business readiness planning is dependant on identifying and managing stakeholders to fully understand the impacts of the change to their business/service.

·Governance and reporting: The ability to establish and operate a governance model that defines clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities for oversight of the execution of change initiatives. This includes honest/ transparent assessment of initiative status; the ability to escalate appropriately to resolve any risks or issues; the preparation of relevant reporting and initiative documentation for stakeholder review such as status reports, outcome roadmaps and programme interdependencies.

·Reviews and assurance: The ability to effectively monitor and continuously improve both the processes and the outcomes of change initiatives. This will typically incorporate 'lessons learnt' reviews at appropriate points, assessing the quality of outcomes and the processes followed to achieve them.At portfolio level, this will include monitoring thematic risks and indicators of control adherence, taking action where needed to remediate any weaknesses in the controls; and identifying and implementing actions to drive greater maturity against key control indicators.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

·Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.

·Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and influencing skills. Able to work with Executive committees and senior stakeholders

·Strong leadership skills with evidence of managing teams across a range of disciplines and locations

·Strong analytical/problem solving mind set with the ability and willingness to get into the details to find solutions.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

·5+ years experience in an enterprise technology environment.

·Formal external qualification/accreditation in digital technology or methodology.

·Programme Management experience in cross functional teams.

·Significant commercial management experience across a number of business discipline
