Legal Counsel - Funds
London, Hybrid Working 

As a Barclays Legal Counsel - Funds in the Investment Products and Services Team, you’ll provide legal counsel to the BUK investments business focusing on the manufacture, maintenance and distribution of Barclays’ range of UCITS and non-UCITS retail schemes. You’ll also support the Private Bank investments business, focusing on the manufacture and distribution of alternative investment funds across a range of jurisdictions and multiple asset classes such as real estate, private equity and hedge funds.

Hybrid Working

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in.  Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?

•    Acting as a trusted advisor and deliver expert legal advice in relation to the laws and regulations governing financial services and investment products
•    Partnering with the business, delivering a best in class legal service that enables the business to deliver on their objectives
•    Working collaboratively with members of the Investment Products and Services, Barclays UK Legal team, other infrastructure functions and the business
•    Providing support in relation to other matters being worked on by the Investment Products and Services, Barclays UK Legal team, including regulatory change
•    Identifying improvements in the risk and control framework and providing appropriate challenge as appropriate 

What we’re looking for:
•    A Solicitor or barrister qualified in the UK or equivalent commonwealth jurisdiction, with experience of working in a law firm and/or in-house in financial services
•    Proven technical expertise in funds, financial markets and regulation with the ability to work across a broad set of products
•    A solid funds background with experience of UCITS funds and alternative investment fund structures.

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Exceptional analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems creatively and effectively and contribution to the creation of policies and controls
•    Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
•    Ability to identify and escalate non-legal, as well as legal risk issues

Where will you be working?

This role is hybrid working and will based at home and our London Canary Wharf office.

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
