Credit Risk Sanctioner - Medium Enterprise
London

As a Barclays Credit Risk Sanctioner - Medium Enterprise, you will act as a sanctioner within the Credit Risk team. Accountable for reviewing and undertaking credit analysis and sanctioning, you will recommend exposure and exposure policies within acceptable risk parameters across a portfolio of Corporate Bank clients. This is an opportunity to join a professional and established team of risk professionals and make a real difference to our business clients.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive, and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

What will you be doing?

•    Approving credit proposals within delegated discretion or appropriate recommendation to relevant sanctioning level
•    Monitoring allocated portfolio and industries for material developments affecting credit quality and the initiation of appropriate action
•    Conducting financial risk analysis (balance sheet, P&L and cash flow) of clients including supporting the annual review process
•    Analysing credit risk taken by the Barclays Group to customers/industries across a wide range of commercial banking products
•    Supporting financial modelling or stress testing in support of requests/transactions
•    Attending credit-focused client calls and face to face meetings (where appropriate)
•    Maintaining the respective internal data systems and support internal/external reporting
•    Leading credit processes for complex transactions

What we’re looking for:

•    Experience of general accounting principles, cash flow and balance sheet analysis, financial modelling techniques, risk measurement and hedge management techniques
•    Developed knowledge across a wide range of Corporate Banking products including trade financing, derivative products and documentation
•    A track record of sound commercial and credit judgement / review
•    Excellent interpersonal skills with proven track record of demonstrating integrity, initiative, great commitment and collaborative approach

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Numerate degree or equivalent preferred
•    Proven experience working with Corporate clients, and ideally exposure to credit sanctioning process
•    Transaction experience, which could include Mergers and acquisitions, Leverage Finance and corporate facilities
•    Decisive, clear, and capable of acting at speed and have the energy and resilience to work in a complex and challenging environment

Where will you be working?

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
