As a Senior Copywriter at Barclays, you will be responsible for planning and executing a strategic content calendar for Barclays Insights Hub (UK Unlocked) and other owned channels. Your work will support and enhance the Bank’s business strategy and objectives through the creation of high-quality editorial content. You will draft all content aligned to the calendar, leveraging internal data and proprietary research to inform your output.

In this role, you will also evaluate and measure the performance of your content output to continuously improve engagement and reach. As part of the Barclays Group Campaigns team, you will also have the opportunity to influence how the Bank communicates its data and insights across a range of channels. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in copy writing, experience in interpreting data, and a strategic mindset to enhance content effectiveness. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping Barclays' narrative and engagement with its audiences.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work as a proactive member of the integrated Barclays Group Campaigns team, to plan and deliver a broad range of editorial content
  • Take ownership for the timings and deliverables of content, delivering work to a high standard to meet deadlines
  • Align with channel owners across the Bank including External Communications, Marketing, Strategic Policy and Employee Communications to increase reach and impact of activity
  • Manage legal, compliance, and stakeholder approval process for editorial content as appropriate
  • Manage external agency partners as appropriate, maintaining accountability for budgets and delivery
  • Measure and evaluate results based on analytics to refine and improve future performance

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

  • Provide exceptional stakeholder support to build trust in working relationships, confidence in our expertise, and ensure a positive reputation for the wider Communications team
  • Deliver advice to senior stakeholders and business management teams

  • Share best practice and learnings with colleagues, seeking continuous improvement opportunities

Risk and Control Objective

  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Extensive copywriting / content marketing experience
  • Ability to draft research and review and analyse data to create compelling content
  • Ability to draft a wide range of communications materials to suit different channels and audiences
  • Ability to translate technical financial language into distinctive, easy-to-understand and engaging storytelling
  • Strong understanding of analytics, including SEO optimisation, with ability to assess and continually improve readership and engagement

Desirable Skills

  • Sound understanding of media relations, paid media and social media channels, with ability to advise on content amplification approach
  • Experience with data visualisation and asset creation (e.g. infographics, video)
  • Experience in managing project teams ensuring resource is used effectively
  • Experience working in a matrix environment
