Event Manager


As a Barclays Event Manager, you will work in the Asia Pacific region within the Events & Hospitality function. You will be reporting locally to the Vice President and Team Leader in Japan. In this role, you will support our Investment Bank business groups to plan and deliver client & colleague events in Japan and, where required, across Asia Pacific. What will you be doing?

  • Partnering with business to plan, execute and support clients and internal conferences and events
  • You will be responsible for delivering upwards of 50 events per year, across in-person, virtual, hybrid formats
  • Managing the end-to-end process of event planning & execution and logistics, ranging from event briefs, research, approvals, invitations, speakers’ management, venue set-up
  • Providing support across Barclays sponsorships portfolio, as well as industry conferences and events, ensuring benefits are delivered
  • Managing and keeping track of event budget with a view to cost efficiency
  • Adhering to internal policy and procedures with regards to reporting activities and spend, compliance regulations, and approval processes

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Hotel Management or a related degree is preferred
  • Significant experience in event management, preferably in financial industry with experience in managing in conferences
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (including Excel and Word) and other database and technology tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; native Japanese and fluency in English

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Knowledge of Japanese event practices and responsible sourcing is an advantage
  • Agency and/or Financial Industry event delivery experience preferred
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task under tight deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills and ability/flexibility to confidently lead and manage an event on an end-to-end basis
