Job description

Join the world of public sector banking

At Barclays, we’re dedicated to providing comprehensive investment banking expertise and capital-raising services to our public sector clients.  Covering state and local governments, public housing, transportation and infrastructure projects, health care systems, universities and other not-for-profit organizations, our public sector banking team helps clients with their complex financial needs.  Discover where the public sector and the investment banking business intersect and join us as a summer analyst.

The chance to make a tangible impact

As a summer analyst, you will spend the summer with our public sector banking team, learning all aspects of executing debt financings and providing comprehensive investment banking solutions for clients.  You will become a member of a specific industry or geographic group, working on live deals and deal proposals, and making a tangible impact on our business.  You may work on projects that include:

  • advising clients on debt capital raising activities, including negotiated bond underwritings, direct loans and financial derivative structures
  • managing transaction teams and coordinate working groups across functional areas
  • developing financial analysis and models that meet client objectives
  • performing credit analysis and due diligence for clients and transactions
  • managing and coordinating internal and external financing-related processes with capital markets participants, including rating agencies, bond insurers and investors
  • developing written materials, including offering memoranda, business presentations and responses to requests for proposals
  • researching and analyzing industry data to share insights with clients

A place where you can thrive

At Barclays, you’ll be surrounded by people who will help you achieve your ambitions.  Our collaborative, supportive environment gives you the chance to build solid relationships with senior leaders and peers alike.  During the program, you’ll also:

  • participate in formal and informal training
  • connect with junior and senior mentors
  • attend dedicated networking sessions and other program events
  • receive detailed performance feedback on an ongoing basis
  • give back to the community through volunteer events

And if you really impress us, this could be the beginning of an incredible career.  We invite top-performing, eligible summer analysts to join us as full-time public sector banking analysts after graduation.

To be considered for this program, you must:

  • Be an undergraduate student with an anticipated graduation date between December 2024 - June 2025.

Ideally, you would also have:

  • an undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or above
  • high degree of personal integrity and a strong academic track record
  • a strong interest in business and finance, though no specific major is required
  • desire to learn and contribute in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • strong written and oral communication skills
