Business Development Manager

As a Barclays Business Development Manager, you will be bringing new Travel Intermediary clients to Barclays Payments with a turnover value greater than £6.5 million per annum. This includes pipeline management, ownership of the sales process, contractual execution and implementation oversight. You will act as the customer advocate within Barclays to ensure our clients receive best-in-class payments consultation. This will be done by driving the customer agenda, developing our future products and innovations.

What will you be doing?
• Establishing and managing a pipeline of Travel Intermediary clients, ensuring income targets are exceeded
• Working closely with key external and internal stakeholders, making certain that all relationships are built on expertise and credibility
• Being the voice of expertise with our customers and taking ownership for all customer needs, which requires managing demanding requirements and priorities
• Enticing and engaging with key business functions, driving cross collaboration across Barclaycard / Barclays group to increase revenue and benefit the customer experience
• Being viewed as the internal expert for your customer’s acquiring and gateway requirements, developing awareness / driving forward opportunities through to live deals
• Flexibly interpreting data to develop commercial proposals and ensure key recommendations can be made to retain and grow our customer relationships
• Assessing the impact of industry changes and adapting to the changing payments landscape
• Collating customer feedback to ensure the professional direction of our gateway, innovations and customer proposition reflect customer requirements

What we’re looking for:
• High level of communication skills, including interactive listening in order to negotiate with key stakeholders at a senior level (internally / externally) to drive profitability with Tier 1 clients
• Experience in driving business development through strategic influence of key stakeholders, eye for complex requirements / tenacity to drive forward and create solutions
• Full and extensive knowledge of the Business to Business payments industry with the ability to build credibility and robust client relationships at all levels
• Extensive knowledge of global industry trends and full understanding of the impact that regulatory / scheme changes can have on a client’s performance and future strategic direction

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Sound knowledge of the Travel Industry and the payments ecosystem within it 
• Ability to work creatively and persistently in a fast paced and demanding industry, ensuring relationships are based on expertise and credibility
