Solutions Architect - Chief Design Lead

As a Barclays Solutions Architect Chief Design Lead you will be a key member the Payments team.  You will be responsible for ensuring that technology solutions meet Payments strategy, business requirements and are in line with Cluster and Group IT Strategies and Architectures. You will represent Digital and ACEE into Centralised Payments Design Council. You will be accountable and chair for Digital and Acquiring Chargeback and EU Expansion Design Community of Practice.

What will you be doing?
•    Ensuring technology solutions are meeting Payments strategy, business requirements, in line with Cluster and Group IT Strategies and Architectures
•    Representing Digital & ACEE into Centralised Payments Design Council
•    You will be accountable and chair for D&ACEE Design Community of Practice.
•    You will be responsible for solution design and technical quality within D&ACEE.
•    You will be accountable for design processes, quality and implementation of artefact templates; in-line with Centralised Payments Design Council standards
•    Working with the relevant Programme Managers, Tower-aligned Solutions architects, or Technology Partners -  responsible for ensuring that the outcomes delivered 
•    Supporting the development of systems strategy and plan for the supported business area
•    Providing ad-hoc consultancy as required to the business on technical matters and Payment Industry trends

What we’re looking for:
•    Payments industry technical expert
•    Extensive experience creating fit for purpose technology solutions addressing the combined challenges of meeting business need, within reasonable constraints
•    Substantial experience of application integration and implementation issues and their architectural implications. Excellent understanding of best practice and design methods
•    Technical Knowledge - A very good broad understanding of a wide variety of technologies (e.g. AWS, Java, Adaptive and Responsive design, etc.)

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Understanding different project methodologies, project lifecycles, major phases, dependencies, milestones within a project, and required documentation needs
•    Ability to understand how and where third part products could be deployed. Good knowledge of vendor evaluation and selection best practice.
•    Experienced with planning, estimating, staffing, organising, and working on multiple projects. Knowledge of monitoring and dealing with critical paths and risks areas
•    Good understanding of concepts of service delivery and support and how this can be affected by technical delivery

Where will you be working?
Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. 
We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton. Plans to further develop this Campus-style location are under way to allow for a real collaborative work environment. Based just off the A45 it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
