As a Barclays Trade Originator- Financial Institutions this is an exciting opportunity where you will be providing complex trade and working capital solutions to our clients, building relationships in Europe supporting its growth. Coverage of Bank Financial Institutions and Non-Bank Financial institutions including but not limited to: Insurance, Reinsurance, Captive Insurance, Broker-dealers, PE Funds, Fund Managers and FinTech’s & Insurtech.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?
•    Being responsible to originate, structure, and execute Trade Finance large transactions with other Banks including, guarantees, Letters of Credit, and specialist Bank to Bank products 
•    Executing complex NBFI facilities, including working capital funding facilities, equity or collateral replacement Letters of Credit, Reinsurance Letters of Credit or surety-fronting etc
•    Structuring and execution of trade transactions, the value of these transactions will either bilateral or syndicated and will typically be in the range of $5-$500m and enhance the returns
•    Researching and creating target customer lists for new business in conjunction with FI and NBFI Coverage relationship team and corporate relationship directors 
•    Developing excellent relationships with stakeholders/ directors and Corporate Trade origination team
•    Building an internal and external network that will facilitate the generation of customer leads
•    Providing input to product development and design of marketing and sales materials founded on a knowledge of customer needs
•    Managing the performance of the business against defined targets in terms of income, balance, RWAs, returns and any other business metrics

What we’re looking for:
• Track record and experience in corporate banking coverage or product, including the ability to understand complex relationships & transactions in the FI and/or NBFI sectors
•    Credit Risk Analysis experience, Commercial and relationships/ accounts management skills, sales orientation, Analytical and numerate, selling and negotiation skills, MS Office proficiency 
• Working knowledge and experience of structuring Trade or Debt finance products and relevant legal documentation (Including LMA)
• Knowing and awareness of Counterparty, Bank, Country and documentary risk of transactions, Knowledge of Bank policies on Country and Counterparty exposure

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Fluent in English and other European language (German preferred) and Knowledge of current ESG trends in the financial markets  
•    Communication will be a critical skill to gain business and ensure relationships are properly managed with a cost-conscious customer base
•    Significant Experience Managing the performance of the business against defined targets in terms of income, balance, RWAs, returns and any other business metrics
•    Experience working with Corporate Relationship Directors, Debt Finance and Leverage Finance teams, other Barclays Trade Originators globally, Trade Product Management etc
