Hybrid Working 

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances These requests will be reviewed and agreed for a period of time i.e., will have a start and end date.

Introduction:

This role is required to meet the development requirements on the Customer Screening platform that uses Oracle EDQ and Oracle OWS products along with Unix and Oracle as database. This role will be initially required to develop solutions to migrate BUs from existing OEDQ platform to OWS platform and on an enduring basis will work on Regulatory Changes.  
Apart from managing the development work of in-flight and pipeline CRs this role will also effectively ensure that Intellectual Property is maintained within Barclays

What will you be doing?

•    Application Development
•    Develop applications to technical specifications.
•    Independently identify repetitive or time consuming processes that can be automated, especially where they benefit multiple business areas.
•    Consume and produce data from a variety of sources, outputting where necessary to downstream applications, or updating the source.
•    Design, develop and deliver innovative and tactical solutions to benefit the finance community.
•    Identify and resolve problems, working closely with the onshore solutions managers
•    Work on a variety of CR’s and managing the IPR of the bank..

•    Production and Delivery
•    Deliver defect free solutions in live environment ensuring service stability. 
•    Own the application support as appropriate when there is an incident or problem record that requires L3 involvement, fully understand problems, communicate and where applicable, implement any resolution.
•    Analyze and identify common problems and look to provide root cause analysis.  Build up a comprehensive knowledge base to reduce future issues.

•    Engineering
•    Evaluate, pilot and implement a range of new technologies, in line with Barclays’ Divest/Invest strategy.
•    Work closely with other areas of the business in Proof of Concept projects, integrating code and data seamlessly.

•    Team based working
•    Work closely with geographically distributed teams to ensure best utilization of resource and allocation of project work.
•    Contribute to project plans and the overall team status reports.
•    Implement and adhere to world class standards across the team.


What we’re looking for:

•    Data Analysis
•    Excellent skills in importing, cleaning, transforming, validating, or modelling data for functional usage.
•    Hands on experience of OWS [Oracle Watchlist Screening] /OEDQ [Oracle Enterprise Data Quality] OR other Customer Data screening tool will be a plus.
•    Has been exposed to at least one workflow system and understands concepts such as workflow states, functional roles, permissions etc.
•    Understands data mapping (ETL) related concepts and can think in terms of Business processes, entity relationships, objects and data flow.
•    UNIX – primary skill
•    Excellent knowledge of working on UNIX environment with exposure to one or more well-known UNIX flavours such as IBM AIX, HP-UX, Red Hat Linux
•    Has worked in at least one project involving writing of UNIX shell scripts for deployment, automation and housekeeping
•    Is conversant with general UNIX commands related to file/directory handling, file transfers, delimited and fixed width file manipulations, vi editor, processes, space utilization etc.
•    Is aware of the concept of job scheduling, batch jobs etc and has exposure to one or more of scheduling tools such as IBM TWS, autosys, cronjob etc.
•    DATABASE – primary skill
•    Has excellent knowledge of RDBMS concepts such as primary keys, joins, indexes, triggers, cursors etc.
•    Has worked on at least one project involving pl/sql, stored procedures
•    Is aware of one more oracle related utility such as sqlplus, sqlldr, utl_file and has exposure to working to different DB client tools such as TOAD
•    Is aware of Performance tuning concepts such as explain plan, query optimization, table scans etc.
•    Exposure to Data Mining and Data Analysis a definite plus.
•    WEB TECHNOLOGIES – secondary skill
•    Has worked on at least one webservices related project; real time applications
•    Has good knowledge of at least of Apache TomCat, IBM Websphere or any other well-known webserver
•    Working knowledge of Java, J2EE, Spring, Hybernate and related technologies with hands-on experience on at least one or more of the above technologies will be a plus
•    SOFT SKILLS
•    Has excellent logical and analytical skills
•    Has ability to convert user requirements into low level designs/specifications
•    Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Has worked on one more client facing projects involving multiple stakeholders and exposure to working with multiple teams
•    Is a team player and has the ability to work with junior and senior team members
•    Has a positive and proactive approach towards deliveries; can detect potential pitfalls, deadlock situations and is result oriented.


Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Bachelor’s Degree from a reputed institution with relevant work experience. 
•    Excellent knowledge of working on UNIX environment with exposure to one or more well known UNIX flavours such as IBM AIX, HP-UX, Red Hat Linux  and has worked on at least one project involving writing of UNIX shell scripts for deployment, automation and housekeeping. 
•    Is aware of the concept of job scheduling, batch jobs etc and has exposure to one or more of scheduling tools such as IBM TWS, autosys, cronjob etc.
•    Has excellent knowledge of RDBMS concepts such as primary keys, joins, indexes, triggers, cursors etc and has worked on at least one project involving pl/sql, stored procedures
•    Knowledge of CICD, DevOps, source control, unit and integration testing, continuous integration, release management, and other software development practices.
•    Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban),Agile tools e.g. JIRA, Rally.

•    Customer Screening Application specific: - 
o    Should have end to end knowledge of Customer Screening data flow
o    Having alert Workflow management experience is preferred.
•    Has worked on at least one WebServices related project; real time applications related to Customer Screening Application.
•    Has good knowledge of at least of Apache TomCat, IBM Websphere or any other well-known webserver
•    Knowledge of Core Java,J2EE,Spring or EJB, Hibernate,Basic SQL,JSP,JMS  or any MQ technologies
