  • To be the design consultant for the UKC Consumer Platform , ensuring that all change applied to the system is functionally correct in terms of the functional architecture and supports the performance, security and resilience requirements of the system
  • To provide consultancy to the Business as requested on the current functional design and ways to implement new requirements
  • To support the Solution Architects and Designers in the delivery of project documentation, e.g. Technical Feasibility Studies and High Level Designs. 

Provide ad-hoc consultancy as required to the business and Project teams on Platform related functionality

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for assisting the Solutions Architects with the High Level Design document, to meet business requirements, in line with Cluster and Group IT Strategies and Architectures. Work with supply chain (including external) as appropriate. Provide Stage 0 Estimates.
  • Adding clarity to business requirements; challenge business requirements and demands to ensure high quality solutions are implemented
  • Assist the Solutions Architects to support the business in delivering its strategic objectives rather than just responding to a pre-defined request, i.e. adding value.
  • Working with the relevant project managers, to reviewing project design artefacts (e.g. Stage 1 and Stage 2 designs) and the impact of significant change requests.
  • Support the solutions Architects, Business and Project Teams in providing advice and guidance.
  • Working with Business and Project teams to investigate and resolve any Live Incidents and identify any remediation that can be applied to make the System perform better and deliver better products.

What we’re looking for:

  • Good Cards Domain knowledge with hands-on experience in mainframe, COBOL, CICS, relational database, DB2,SQL
  • Good experience in comprehending the project High level solution designs and coming up with the platform level design.
  • Experience in working collaboratively in large organisation as a designer.
  • A deep understanding of different project methodologies, project lifecycles, major phases, dependencies and milestones within a project, and the required documentation needs
  • Some experience in planning, estimating and ideally, working on multiple projects. Has monitored and dealt with critical paths and risks areas.
  • Ability to manage project stakeholders through verbal and written communication, highlighting the project RAIDs and options for their mitigation.
  • Ability to run design meetings, and provide status updates to the key stakeholders.

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Demonstrates initiative and competence; supports and encourages positive working behaviours in others
  • Ideally, some experience in supervising a virtual team, managing performance on an on-going basis, and contributing to project plans; effectively delegates tasks (to supply chain); provides examples of own ability to shift well from task to task.
  • Understanding of concepts of service delivery and support.
  • Actively seeks ways to understand, mitigate or reduce risks, drawing on expert advice, risk assessment, and management reports.
  • General understanding of the objectives, initiatives and issues of HR and finance departments, and the relevant regulatory agencies and regulations
