Introduction:

  • The role requires an experienced, high calibre mainframe lead with good functional and technical engineering skills / product knowledge to work with business stakeholders and key suppliers to deliver change to agreed time, quality and cost parameters.
  • Knowledge of the major tools in a toolkit for the specific application product – IBM Zseries Mainframe, IMS , COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, VSAM is vital to this role

What will you be doing?

Following are key activities expected from the role for Customer & Risk application.

  • Responsible for component technical delivery ( Build / Test / Implementation) of projects within agreed timescales and budgets
  • Contribute in component impact assessment of PWR’s for Build/Test Phase
  • Ensure high quality technical delivery with minimal post Live issues.
  • Grooming & Mentoring of juniors in the team (Technical & Functional / process improvements)
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with teams across the organisation, ensuring effective delivery of applications into the production environment
  • Liaise with technical delivery managers, keeping them updated on release progress against milestones, risks, issues and finances
  • Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Identify own development needs and proactively drive development of self / team’s  capability, using all available means, to achieve world class standards
  • Support/Lead evaluation and review of emerging delivery methods, tools and standards. Apply new ways of working as appropriate
  • Collaborate with the application support / service teams to ensure smooth transition of applications into their BAU environments
  • Ensuring that all change is developed and implemented using best practice
  • Ensuring that all engineering reviews are completed and the introduction of change into the Production environment follows agreed governance processes

What we’re looking for:

  • Graduate with Technical background.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Mainframes - COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS  and Assembler is mandatory. Knowledge in IMS is preferable
  • Strong expertise in Mainframe Application Development/Design/Testing, with relevant work experience between 7 – 10 years.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Mainframes (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, IMS, DB/DC) is mandatory.
  • God understanding of Tools (Debugging / performance) is required.
  • Sound logical reasoning & design methodology is desirable.
  • Ability to explore new age technology improvement / automation / DevOps toolchain is desirable
