Global Contract Services (GCS) Prime Services & Prime Derivatives Services Negotiator

As a Barclays GCS Prime Services and Prime Derivatives Services (PDS) Negotiator you will draft, negotiate, and execute various master trading documentation.  As the negotiator you will be recognised as a subject matter expert on the master agreements managed by GCS. You will be involved in managing global projects, providing guidance to junior team members, actively contributing to the team’s knowledge base and knowledge share with other members of the team and foster a strong risk and control environment.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month, or a quarter. What will you be doing?

•    Identifying processes that can be improved around data capture, technology and documentation 
•    Drafting, negotiating, and executing capital markets contract documentation with an assigned portfolio of Barclays 
•    Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and documentation risk controls and adhere to associated guidelines and procedures
•    Maintaining up to date, working knowledge of the products covered and applicable regulations
•    Conducting independent legal analysis and manage relationships with external counsel, where necessary, in accordance with Barclay’s requirements 
•    Managing the negotiations process by identifying and escalating potential risks and other issues in a timely manner  

What we’re looking for:

•    Bachelor’s degree or educational equivalent (Finance/Legal)
•    Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
•    Five years of financial services experience

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Exceptional ability to navigate through various IT systems used by the Legal function
•    Demonstrated expertise in suite of prime services agreements
•    Understand the importance of legal risk management in context of document negotiation
