Job description

Production Support Specialist 

As a Barclays Reference Data Application Support Lead in RTB (Run the Bank), you will be accountable for Reference Data systems enabling Barclays to generate revenue, by supplying prices to customer portals, delivering client information to payment systems, and by publishing real-time updates to the trading systems. In this production support role, you will be responsible for driving the stability of the systems to maximize the timely and accurate delivery of these services to the business.

What will you be doing?

•    Build and maintain the next generation monitoring tools for Reference Data systems focusing on intelligent alerting with a business context
•    Partner with development teams to migrate systems to a cloud-based environment (AWS) – feed in non-functional requirements during the Software Development Lifecycle
•    Identify and implement continuous service improvements to exceed business expectations
•    Act as an Automation Champion, driving the elimination of recurring manual activities from the environment
•    Responsible for transitioning commoditized support tasks into the shared services function
•    Collaborate with other IT Teams to coordinate the successful delivery of high profile market events and large-scale application upgrades and infrastructure migrations

What we’re looking for:

•    Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent work experience
•    Subject matter expertise in either an application or engineering domain
•    Experience managing continuous improvement initiatives including automation & monitoring tools
•    Experience supporting Financial Markets applications or their underlying infrastructure

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Technical knowledge of Relational Databases, in particular MSSQL & Oracle, including stored procedures & optimization
•    Experience of partnering with external market data providers (e.g. Bloomberg/Reuters) to find common technical solutions
•    Technical knowledge of servers (Unix/Windows) and middleware (Solace/MQ)
•    Experience managing complex batch environments (Autosys)
