Job description

Site Reliability Engineer
Whippany, NJ

As a Barclays Site Reliability Engineer, you will be in Cards & Payments Run the Bank (RtB) Team within Dedicated Services. You will use your expertise to provide SME support to other Technology Operations teams driving project engagement to on-board new changes into production and continually identify opportunities to automate in order to drive stability and reliability across Cards & Payments Technology Applications.

What will you be doing?
•    Driving complex and major incidents to resolution by owning the end to end incident
•    Produce Technical Incident Post Mortem (TIPM) documents for major incidents
•    Own the problem management function and work on to reduce the open problems by implementing fixes, collaborating with component teams
•    Reviewing test strategy, test cases & test results and provide inputs from an RtB point of view
•    Contribute in OAT and Resilience Testing 
•    Contribute in defining non-functional requirements for new projects
•    Provide early life support of new projects
•    Automation of all manual checks such as SoD, EoD, Post-Release Live Proving, etc.

What we’re looking for:
•    Strong domain knowledge in banking or financial sector with an exposure to Agile Delivery for large scale and complex real-time systems
•    Cloud Technologies such as AWS and/or RedHat OpenShift with orchestration/automation tools such as Jenkins and Chef
•    Application Support for apps written in Java/J2EE including code-debugging skills and ability to perform analytics investigations on diagnostics such as thread-dumps, memory dumps
•    Excellent knowledge on monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Kibana, Netcool, ITRS Geneos

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Scripting – Writing & reading Shell, PL/SQL scripts
•    Databases – NoSQL based native-cloud database such as Aerospike or Cassandra
•    Databases – Working knowledge on enterprise RDBMS databases such as Oracle and SQL Server
•    Working knowledge of Network Technologies such as Load Balancers & Firewalls
