Head Payment Processing

As a Barclays Head Payment Processing, you will be in charge of ownership of the operational aspects of the customer payment journey. Some of your responsibilities will include presenting the process and its controls to others; improving the effectiveness of the process; and working with Payment Product Owner to balance customer experience and risk requirements. You will also handle processes including credit card payments, loan payments, deposit processing as well as other similar monetary services which involve moving money between banks.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances

What will you be doing?

•    Being accountable for ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of processes which move money on behalf of customers with credit card, consumer lending, and deposit products
•    Ensuring these automated processes are efficient and effective in design and include needed controls to meet expectations of customers, regulators, partners, and network participants
•    Leading and presenting process design/controls to senior leaders and partners in various oversight areas/lines of defines (Auditors, Compliance, Legal, Controls, etc 
•    Working closely with Payment Product owner to ensure operational initiatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency are included in product road map
•    Ensuring processes are scalability such they can support substantial growth and dynamic to support integration with new products

What we’re looking for:

•    At least five years of experience in Cards & Payments operations, including a broad knowledge of ACH network/regulatory requirements and obligations 
•    Experience presenting process/risks /controls to audiences of various levels of knowledge 
•    Ability to leverage existing process maps, process-risk-control documents, procedures during such discussions
•    Understanding of basic accounting/settlement/reconcilement functions affected by monetary processing

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Highly effective communicator able to speak with audiences of varying levels (non-exempt to executive)
•    Ability to affect solution design to ensure scalability (avoid always selecting based on speed/cost to implement)
•    Data driven mind-set to drive decisions and planning
•    Ability to deliver and influence cross a matrix organization
