Ramya joined Barclays Technology Centre, India, in 2015 as an Intern Analyst. Now, as a Delivery Manager and Business Analyst, she works on a wide range of applications supporting Barclays, constantly building her technical skills and looking for every opportunity to develop her career with Barclays. She has won the Global Recognition for Excellence award, and was nominated for the ‘Entry Level Talent of the Year’ Group Technology Award, a testament to the high regard her colleagues have for her.
“It’s humbling to see many colleagues, especially graduates, connect with me to learn about my career after these nominations, and to share their inputs on how to progress further. Communication, and sharing knowledge and experience, is very important to me – Barclays creates valuable opportunities for me to do this, both in my official role and in various other ways. For example, I’m an Area Director with Toastmasters International, and involved in Barclays' Toastmasters Clubs, where we work with colleagues to hone their speaking, listening and communication skills, building their confidence and effectiveness. Because of this, I represent the bank at external events, which in turn builds my own communication skills and confidence.
“I’ve had a lot of help from talented people in my career and I’m delighted to help other colleagues’ careers through my work with PitchIn, which helps bring new ideas to life. I also volunteer in career development workshops and act as a young mentor.”
“I’m also passionate about enhancing the way we communicate with our customers to improve our service. As a Business Analyst in the various communication delivery teams, I’ve been working with cross functional teams in both India and the UK to deliver important regulatory communications to millions of customers. I’ve also worked on SignIt, a digital solution that enables customers and colleagues to e-sign critical documents such as contracts and mortgage documents. This meant constantly challenging the status quo, but the result is a solution that massively improves our customers’ experience, while reducing turnaround times and cost to the bank.”

We’ve delivered Paperless solutions, a One Time Passcode, a Chatbot handling repeat customer queries, and the Marketing Cloud Tech platform that means we can target our customers better and bring down costs. All of these exciting tech solutions have improved our customer and colleague experiences, and added huge value to the bank. I’m proud to have been a part of some of them.
