Associate Sustainable Finance
Dublin, Paris, Frankfurt, or Paris

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmark.

As a Barclays Associate Sustainable Finance, you’ll have the opportunity to support with providing sustainable financing solutions to Corporate & Investment Banking clients across Europe. In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting the Product offering in Europe for both new business and existing portfolio, whilst working closely with the Coverage, Portfolio Management, Wholesale Lending, Trade Finance, and other Group functions to contribute in achieving all sustainable finance Targets & financed emissions reduction targets.

What will you be doing?
•    Providing best-in-class input on execution of sustainable finance opportunities, delivering high quality service to internal and external clients
•    Engaging with Product Management to assist in development of the Sustainable Product offering, driving high quality outputs for stakeholders, Portfolio Management & Lending department
•    Supporting deal teams to ensure origination and structuring of complex value additive deals in a dynamic and competitive marketplace
•    Developing a deep understanding of sustainable finance market practice, particularly transaction structuring, ESG analysis of key franchise clients, complex structures 
•    Working closely with the Portfolio Management to enable delivery of Barclays sustainable proposition to the client, balancing client needs with the risk and returns priorities of the Bank
•    Operating with sustainable Key Business Introducers network and generate new business opportunities and share knowledge of external market developments
•    Reviewing client performance, strategic business plans and proposals, analysing relevant data sources, support material P&L opportunities through Sustainability Arranger mandates, cross-sales
•    Delivering financing advice and solutions to European clients in energy transition related sectors, such as power and energy clients investing in decarbonisation initiatives and transition to net zero

What we are looking for:
•    Excellent communication, persuasion skills to get buy-in and deliver for strategic initiatives and influencing transactions, advising on complex credit and modelling issues 
•    A comprehensive understanding of returns, debt financing, credit risk, trade finance and use market knowledge to produce data driven analysis of business opportunities 
•    Excellent analytical and numerical skills; experience in analysis of business, market and sector performance and credit risk analysis
•    Judgement and knowledge to help shape and influence transactions, using complex and broad ranges of information to assess impact on the bank and client decisions 

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Excellent project management skills, ability to work in a small team, proactive ability to research internal and external market data sources
•    Project management, commercial acumen and business development skills, with the ability to make decisions based on sound judgement and complex information
•    Knowledge of macro-support in identifying and addressing training and development needs within the team proving guidance on best practice and driving high quality output
•    Ability to use research, credit knowledge and experience to develop solutions for clients and support execution and optimization of structured ESG portfolio, optimizing returns

Where will you be working?

You can be based in any one of our offices in Dublin, Paris, Frankfurt, or Madrid.

Dublin 
You will be based in our new flagship office, One Molesworth Street, which is in the heart of Dublin City Centre. We are currently expanding which drives a culture of change and hard work ethic, nonetheless the company maintains an open, friendly atmosphere.  This is enhanced through our unique onboarding programs and several committees which all employees are eligible to join.

Paris
Dating from 1922, Barclays has a long-established presence in France. Today, from our office in Paris we provide a full-service Investment Bank offering to our local and global clients. Our integrated coverage model means we can provide our clients with access to deep expertise across sectors, regions, and products. We deliver informed strategic advice, comprehensive financial solutions, and risk management services, creating sophisticated strategies customised to meet our clients’ needs

Frankfurt
Our new Frankfurt office is based in the heart of the new business district in the Taunus Turm. It boasts modern, collaborative workspaces and offers a gym, a number of different food outlets close by and direct access to a large park.

Madrid
Dating from 1979, Barclays has a long-established presence in Spain. Today, from our office in Madrid we provide a full service Corporate and Investment Bank offering to our local and global clients. Located within 10 minutes of the nearest train station, Gregorio Marañón, our office is well positioned within the financial district of Madrid.
