Miloš Broulík, Director in Research and Markets
I joined Barclays as a very junior analyst with only part-time experience. But I’d been coding since I was 15, so had some skills to offer. I like to solve problems, and there were plenty to solve, so that’s what I started doing.
After working on smaller projects, I was assigned to design, build and own our ReviewList application. That meant working directly with senior business people in New York. The success of that project brought me my first promotion to Assistant Vice President. Then, I was given the chance to work on native Android development. After a year of completely rewriting code, we successfully delivered the application, and I was made Mobile Team Lead.
Our team expanded its scope to include iOS development, covering our Barclays Live mobile app, and then to an even bigger project, Composer. This brought me my second promotion to Vice President.
When my manager moved up to take on more responsibilities, I was really well placed to lead the whole of Research IT in Prague. Since the Research team and Composer project were successful, we started new sibling teams. All this project delivery and expanded scope of responsibility led to a promotion to Director.
What we do really matters. So I’m proud to have delivered so many significant projects. And I’m proud to have progressed from a junior developer to a Director responsible for 100+ people, and multiple large projects, in under 10 years.
Barclays is a great place for talent to grow. You can take on as much responsibility as you can handle and be rewarded for it.
What we do really matters.
