Apprentice Application Process
Applying for a new role is an important step in your career. This is your chance to really show us what you’re like and how your talents can make a difference at Barclays. So, we’re supporting you by making our application and assessment processes simple to follow. Here, you can read all about what to expect, we’re looking forward to meeting you.
We aim for an inclusive work environment where everyone can reach their full potential. If you require any adjustments to any stage of our recruitment process for a disability, long-term health condition or neurodiversity, please let us know as part of your application. Anything you disclose with us will be kept confidential and any information you share will be used to ensure you can be at your best in the application process, but you only need to share what you are comfortable with. Some of the adjustments we have made to the process include but are not limited to: extra time for assessments, offline assessments. As part of this process, we encourage and welcome feedback to our recruitment team on how we can better support our candidates requiring adjustments.
Step 1 – Choose the role that suits you best
To get started, simply research which role suits you best, and then register your interest. We’ll get in touch to let you know what happens next. It’s never too early to start deciding which programme might be right for you. Remember, you don't need work experience for our experiences, or a coding background to go for a technology role. You can only apply to one programme in a six month period, so it's important to research the role so you can choose the right one for you. Please also review the eligibility criteria for each role before applying.
Step 2 - Your application
It all starts with the application form, this is an opportunity for you to tell us about any work experience you may have as well as your academic background. The form should take around 30 minutes to complete. We would suggest reviewing the minimum entry criteria for each programme before applying, this information can be found on the relevant programme pages. Please read all instructions carefully and ensure you remember your login details so you can access your application throughout the process. If you are unsuccessful at this stage, initial assessment or digital interview, we will be in touch to make you aware of this, but we would encourage you to apply again in six months for other roles.
Step 3 – Initial assessment
It all starts with two short interactive assessments, which will tell us how you might perform in the workplace, and your typical or preferred ways of working. You can do this on any type of device, such as your mobile phones or tablet. You'll receive full instructions about the structure and timings of the assessments and whether they need to be completed in one sitting, as well as hints and tips for success on these assessments. You will also get the opportunity to access practice tests which we would recommend completing before the assessments. We suggest you allow 60 minutes for completion and you will need to complete the assessment within five calendar days from the date of your invitation. Please let us know before you start the assessments if you need any adjustments.
Step 4 – Your interview
If you’ve been successful so far, we’ll invite you to attend a motivational interview. This is your opportunity to meet a member of our leadership team and get answers to any questions you might have about the programme and business area you've applied to. It is also your chance to tell us your strengths and motivations for the role.
Step 5 – Your Offer or Feedback
If we make you an offer, we’ll start to arrange your on-boarding. If we can’t take you on this time, we’ll make sure you know what you can do to improve after this stage, including a personalised feedback report.
