About the role

Join us for 2 – 6 months, and we’ll encourage you to push the boundaries of what you know. To strive for better solutions, chase technological innovation and develop smarter ways of working. The best way to get a sense of what it’s like to work with us is to experience it for yourself. Our Spring and Summer Internships give you the chance to do just that – immersing you in our culture, involving you in real projects and giving you a fantastic overview of the business.

What to expect

Your internship starts with intensive training that gives you an essential platform for gaining skills and knowledge. Then you’ll head to your desk, where you’ll get to grips with the intricacies of the global markets and follow a structured programme that includes project-based work.

How you’ll develop

You’ll be surprised by what you can achieve. From beginning to end, we’ll do everything in our power to make sure you get the very most from your internship.

We’ll surround you with challenging projects and opportunities to grow and learn. We’ll keep you motivated with encouragement, feedback and support as you build your leadership skills, technical know-how and business acumen. We’ll help you connect with mentors, and network with colleagues and senior leaders alike. You’ll get the chance to give back to the community through volunteer events. And if you really impress us, this could be the beginning of an incredible career. We invite top-performing interns to join us as full-time analysts after graduation.

Who thrives here

We welcome people of any educational background, but you should have a keen interest in global economics. You’ll be great at communicating and collaborating – motivated by pace and pressure and driven to achieve and search for the best solution. You’ll also be ready to develop a deep understanding of what we do, why we do it, and how your role impacts on our business outcomes. These are qualities that people at Barclays have in abundance, and we’ll help you develop and strengthen them from the day you arrive.

What to expect

As an eTrading and Machine Learning off-cycle analyst, you’ll take your first steps in the extremely challenging and fascinating world of algorithmic trading & data science. Working with a broad spectrum of colleagues, you’ll learn how data science fits into our business. What’s more, you’ll help our team to turn mathematical and algorithmic ideas into trading reality.
