Marketing at Barclays: a graduate's experience

In the Marketing team, I get to use skills like creativity, critical thinking and communication every day. Collaborating with lots of different people, I work on the entertainment sponsorships that Barclays and Barclaycard are so well known for. We’re able to offer clients some amazing opportunities: everything from Premier League hospitality to VIP festival experiences.

Graduates are given autonomy and meaningful responsibility.

I’m responsible for nurturing strong relationships with our external agencies and internal teams such as Group Brand. Day to day, I’ll have meetings with various stakeholders and look at ways colleagues across the bank can benefit from our sponsorship portfolio. By far, the most rewarding part of my role is the sheer amount of responsibility. My line manager has clearly outlined projects that I can take full lead on, making me feel a valued member of the team. So this is very much a place where individuals can develop quickly – graduates are given autonomy and meaningful responsibility.

You also meet some great people here. Networking is encouraged, and you’re able to make connections and build relationships around Barclays, at all levels. Not only that, we’re supported to move to different business areas. It means I’m able to broaden my career and soak up new experiences, without needing to look towards other companies. It’s a workplace full of opportunities for anyone and everyone, and that’s really exciting.
