Overall purpose of role

As an AML and Sanctions analyst with the Geneva AML and Sanctions Team, the role holder key function will be to assist the local team in preventing Financial Crime within the Swiss Platform. The role holder’s main activities will include:

·AML alerts – Processing of AML Transactions Monitoring alerts (client knowledge, transactional analysis, control of corroborative documentation, exchanges with Front Office and other departments in the context of clarification processes, management of follow-up cases…) Escalation to MLRO / Financial Crime team as required

·AML control on transfer of securities

·Control on the initial funding of new accounts

·New client screening – screening of clients using BOOST and Moodys databases – process and investigate RTS related alerts generated by the Barclays surveillance tools. Escalation to MLRO / Financial Crime team as required.

·Customer Screening controls – process and investigate any Customers related alerts (PEP, Adverse media, Sanctions, Prohibitions and Watchlist) generated by the Barclays surveillance tools. Escalation to MLRO / Financial Crime team as required.

·Transaction surveillance – process and investigate AML related alerts generated by the Barclays surveillance tools. Escalation to MLRO / Financial Crime team as required

·Liaise with Correspondent banks for investigation on payments

·Searches in Avaloq in the context of Court Orders requests / Judicial searches requests.

For each of the above the role holder will be expected to build relationships with the local team and interact effectively and professionally with Operations, Compliance and the Front Office. In addition, the role holder will be responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in both process and control.

Core accountabilities

The role holder will review and analyse the alerts generated by the systems (AML & Sanctions related) within an agreed timeline and report any issues / inadequate activity in a timely manner to the team’s manager

The role holder will liaise with the relevant units where required and follow up on any investigations undertaken

The role holder will maintain a secure log/database to perform MI and/or administrative tasks linked to the function

The role holder will assist on the technical and testing phases when needed

Key clients (internal and external)

The role holder will mainly be in contact with our Front office colleagues, incl. private bankers and private banker executives but also with the external teams of our various booking platforms

The role holder will be in contact with our colleagues of the local platform but also from the external platforms with whom we interact regularly, including Compliance / Financial Crime and our colleagues within Operations 

Role requirements

The right candidate will ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards

Professional/technical experience

The right candidate will ideally have previous relevant experience in financial services in the same position with a detailed knowledge of the Swiss Banking Regulations as well as of the KYC principles and its application

The right candidate will also have a strong knowledge of the current environment (FATCA, Sanctions)

In addition, the right candidate will show excellent skills, including the ability to analyse and interpret data, using Excel. Experience in banking Operations systems such Avaloq would be beneficial.

Academic and professional qualifications

It is desirable that the right candidate will be educated to a minimum of higher grade leveI or equivalent, possess experience within the financial services industry in the same position. 

Language skills

It is desirable that the right candidate has a strong knowledge of French and English.
