Principal Investments Valuations Senior Manager
Glasgow

As a Barclays Principal Investments Valuations Senior Manager’, you will have a unique opportunity to play a leading role as part of the Glasgow-based valuations and portfolio team within Principal Investments.  Focusing on running the valuations process and associated governance, this is an exciting opportunity to be involved in numerous ad-hoc projects including the on-boarding of a new valuation’s platform.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive, and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

What will you be doing?

•    Ensuring the quarterly valuations process runs smoothly from committee setup, paper generation, delivery and post committee actions – owning the process from start to finish
•    Reviewing the output of each portfolio valuation, working closely with finance and ensuring consistency of approach
•    Conducting Valuations - gathering data required to conduct portfolio company valuations, engaging with portfolio companies and gathering data from platforms (Bloomberg/Capital IQ)
•    Conducting the first drafts of valuation calculations for the PM review, utilising the appropriate valuation technique and providing the support for analysis
•    Leading on valuations governance, supporting requirements to comply with model governance, including taking on the role of model developer
•    Leading the requirements to comply with EUDA governance for valuations and non-valuation EUDAs
•    Ensuring that PI keeps up-to-date with the latest changes to valuation techniques including changes to the IPEV guidelines
•    Helping with projects and other key priorities, including the onboarding of a new valuations platform

What we’re looking for:

•    Demonstrable experience of Investment valuations and concepts
•    Relevant numerate qualification or significant applied experience in finance
•    Thorough knowledge of locations, personnel, functions and activities of external institutions relating to the work of the areas and/or ‘specialisms’ of the Team
•    Track record of experience working in a high-pressure, confidential, transactional environment

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Professional business qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, CIMA
•    Experience of data management
•    Organised, self-starting with excellent interpersonal skills
•    Project Management Skills

Where will you be working?
