Financial Crime Risk and Control VP
Whippany

As a Barclays Financial Crime Risk and Control Vice President, you will be responsible for conducting QA (Quality Assurance) reviews of the Americas Investigations Team’s casework across the New York Branch, the Investment Bank, and the FIU, including cases recommended for closure and cases approved for SAR filing by the SAR Review Committee. You will be responsible for reviewing and signing off on the output of the Risk and Control team and for making policy and procedure recommendations to senior management based upon the team’s reviews.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We've helped millions of individuals and businesses thrive, creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted. An important and growing presence in the USA, we offer careers providing endless opportunity.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

What will you be doing?

•    Reviewing and signing off on monthly QA reviews and making recommendations on investigator and team development needs
•    Conducting root cause analysis of common errors and identifying and implementing policy and procedure improvements based on said analysis
•    Undertaking controls testing to assess the design and operational effectiveness of the controls that underpin the Americas Investigations Team’s process
•    Managing and disseminating monthly global MI to relevant Financial Crime stakeholders and preparing materials for relevant governance forms
•    Supporting responses to Regulators, Audit, and Assurance partners during reviews of the Americas Investigations Team
•    Addressing the Risk and Control team’s professional development needs and conducting regular one on ones in addition to mid-year and end-of-year reviews
•    Helping assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures against existing Financial Crime standards and emerging AML risks and trends

What we’re looking for:

•    Four-year college degree or international equivalent
•    At least five years of AML Compliance and Bank Secrecy Act or other relevant experience
•    Five years of Microsoft Office applications and internet search tools
•    Experience leading or managing others

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Experience in Correspondent Banking and Investment Banking
•    CAMS certification, CFE, JD, or other advanced degree or certification

Where will you be working?

At Barclays, we are proud to be redefining the future of finance and here at Whippany we are defining the future of the workplace and the future of the way we work and live. We are creating a unique community, one of four strategic tech-enabled hubs that will redefine opportunity for everyone who works here. Whatever you do at Whippany, you’ll have every chance to build a world-class career in this world-class environment.
