Barclays Product Development & Management

In a role in Product Development & Management, you'll oversee our entire product lifecycle. Your responsibilities include gathering and prioritising product and customer requirements, defining product vision, and ensuring successful delivery and ongoing performance.

Join us as a Responsible Investment Analyst and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies for the bank's internal operations, ensuring alignment with overall corporate sustainability goals, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

RI Responsibilities

  • Manage and own relationships with ESG third-party data providers.
  • Lead data analysis across RI and primarily for climate initiatives.
  • Draft responses to ESG inquires requested by third-party providers i.e. S&P Moody’s, MSCI.
  • Manage the relationship with internal and external marketing agencies on the publication of client reports.
  • Secretariat for the senior leadership Sustainability and Climate Change Governance Forum.
  • Support the Head of RI with strategic projects.
  • Support the RI team on ESG enhancements to meet RI regulation and market practice.  

Data-related Responsibilities

  • Support the Climate Specialist lead in meeting data-related climate expectations under the TCFD, PRI and UK Stewardship Code reporting.
  • Embed and implement carbon related metrics to align with Group policies for climate and climate integration across investment teams (e.g. Discretionary Portfolio Management and Private Assets). 
  • Source third party data to undertake climate scenario analysis to support the investment decision making process.
  • Analyse client holdings for ESG risks and highlight to the investment teams to further strengthen ESG integration.   
  • Validate client holding data for the suite of RI reports.

Management of Third-Party ESG Service Providers

  • Keep abreast of third-party data service provider offerings to address emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to communicate the business case (by collating, distilling and conveying complex data insights) to diverse stakeholders to enhance our data capabilities.

RI Reporting Responsibilities

  • Manage the relationship with internal and external marketing agencies on the publication of RI reports (e.g. PRI, UK Stewardship Code, TCFD) and digital content. 
  • Oversee voting disclosures, engagement & voting factsheets with relevant internal sign-offs.

Person Specification

  • Strong analytical mindset with thorough attention to detail to interpret data. 
  • They must be uncompromising in their attention to detail, taking personal responsibility and being accountable to ensure the best results for clients, company, colleagues and wider society.

Technical skills / data manipulation experience

  • Intermediate level of knowledge of Excel (confident to manipulate large amounts of data) - training will be provided on data sources and current climate methodologies.
  • Ability to prepare data to support reporting and decision making e.g. graphics, create ESG/climate related metrics using third party data vendors.
  • Preferred technical understanding of different types of ESG data would be an advantage (e.g. GHG emissions, energy, water, waste, social data).

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

  • Ability and flexibility to successfully manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment and work collaboratively with the RI team to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
  • This role requires a self-motivated, innovative individual with an ability to relate technical Sustainable/ RI concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.

Presentation skills

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to articulate data results / information succinctly and accurately to the RI team and where necessary to the investment teams and senior management.
  •  Be persuasive and robust in championing views to obtain ongoing support for the RI programme of work.

Industry experience

  • The candidate will preferably have knowledge of Sustainability / RI within an Investment management or consultancy firm.
  • Familiarity with ESG third-party data providers e.g. MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, Morningstar would be beneficial. 
  • Preferably an understanding of the UK Stewardship Code, PRI, TCFD and SASB frameworks.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to undertake CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.

This role will be based in London.

Purpose of the role

To develop and manage the success of specific financial products and services, providing in-depth expertise on a particular product line, bridging the gap between product development, marketing, sales, and customer service. 

Accountabilities

  • Provision of SME expertise on specific products and services to customers and colleagues, including features, functionalities, benefits, limitations, risks and compliance.
  • Identification of market trends, new features, regulatory requirements and potential risks, and analysis of data obtained from sales figures and, customer feedback, to support the product strategy and development process, and communicate key findings to relevant stakeholders to improve and implement new product offerings.
  • Response to colleague and stakeholder inquiries, resolution of issues, and provision of guidance on product usage.  .
  • Presentation of the advantages and features of the product to potential customers and stakeholders, building trust and encouraging adoption.
  • Assistance with the development and execution of marketing materials for the product, such as brochures, presentations, and online content.
  • Participation in and delivery of training sessions and workshops to share product knowledge and expertise with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Participation in events, conferences, and other networking opportunities to showcase the product and generate interest.
