About International Corporate Banking (ICB)

International Corporate Banking (ICB) sits within Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) and provides client coverage and origination of Corporate banking products to International Corporates, Banks and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) clients. The business is organised around these three sectors and regional reporting lines. The client base is diverse and many relationships are active across Corporate and Investment Banking. ICB client relationships are covered internationally with key geographies being US, UK, Western Europe and Asia, product capabilities are focused in the UK and Western Europe. The ICB is a significant growth area and is growing internationally.

About Financial Institutions Group (FIG)
FIG is a global client coverage team within ICB and provides client origination and corporate bank relationship and product coverage of clients operating in these sectors: Insurance companies, Specialty Finance, Regulated Payments and FinTech, Private Equity, Asset Managers, Banks & Affiliates.

Key products covered are cash management, liquidity management, debt and working capital, trade and FX. The business operates internationally with key jurisdictions being UK, Western Europe, US and Asia. Clients are covered by named relationship directors where they are headquartered and also locally where FIG delivers corporate banking product for them. Many clients are jointly covered by ICB FIG and the Investment Bank coverage and markets teams.

Our growth has been achieved through a focus on developing client relationship teams with deep industry sector knowledge, working to a clear strategy and risk appetite, strong performance driven culture combined with a franchise culture focused on where FIG can provide value for our clients and the Group.

We work closely with our Investment Bank colleagues to drive closer cooperation and coverage of the CIB client set and to build out and leverage people, product and infrastructure investments we are making in the ICB franchise.

Overall purpose of role

As a Relationship Director you will manage a portfolio of strategic client relationships in our FinTech & PSP team, demonstrating outstanding customer relationship management skills in order to embed and grow client relationships. You will drive our strategy towards these clients, which entails empowering your relationship team and business partners to deliver the best of Barclays to your clients.

The role has regular exposure to senior leaders across our business and will be required to consistently and effectively communicate with stakeholders on the activities being undertaken between our clients and our business.

The role holder should be a self-confident individual with the ability to communicate and listen to client need and to deliver against objectives, doing so by utilising your expertise and by developing and leveraging a network of relationships within the organisation and across the sector. You will have a strong grasp of your clients business models, requirements and their relationship with Barclays. The individual should have a strong work ethic and be respectful, collaborative and professional to colleagues and clients.

The role holder will be empowered to take ownership of the client relationship and delivery of our objectives. You will coach, develop and support team members to ensure that they are similarly able to deliver.

Operating effectively within our control environment is crucial to the role and the holder will demonstrate a keen focus on risk management.

Key Accountabilities

Managing a portfolio of high growth, complex and strategically important FinTech & PSP customer relationships, maximising sustainable income and client profitability through providing excellent service and becoming recognised as a trusted advisor to clients.

Developing the portfolio by increasing wallet share as well as winning new business and doing so by leading execution focused deal teams; focussing on collaboration across Barclays and ensuring strength of direction, momentum and implementation of projects including complex cash management, FX and debt.

Establishing and growing a profile as a recognised subject matter expert within the FinTech and Non-Bank PSPs industry both internally and externally.

Close Collaboration with the Business Development Director to explore new markets and clients within Barclays Business Appetite.

Ensure effective risk management across the portfolio of high-risk client types and working as a cohesive team with specialist managers carrying out Enhanced Due Diligence reviews for your portfolio of clients. Ensure compliance with mandatory Risk policies and procedures relating to regulatory, operational, legal risk, Financial Crime and credit risk

Seek, share and embed best practice both nationally and internationally across the Fintech and Non-Bank PSPs global franchise as well as working effectively across the Barclays group.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

As a Relationship Director you will be acting as the gateway to Barclays group and primary contact point for external clients in our sector and you will be expected to effectively build and foster relationships with multiple contacts from the head of compliance to C-suite executives.

You will be expected to take an active and broad role in guiding and supporting more junior members of the team. You will also support the head of the team directly in the delivery and execution of strategic initiatives.

The jobholder will also be expected to communicate clearly, concisely and consistently with stakeholders across the Barclays group on delivery against objectives. This includes working closely with a number of other key internal stakeholders across different areas including inter alia, Senior Management, Investment Banking & Global Markets, Financial Crime, Compliance, Cash Management, Product, Global Payments and Client Servicing as should have the ability to bring together stakeholders and work effectively across Barclays divisions.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

The FinTech & PSP Industry requires a high level of understanding of and adherence to regulatory and compliance risk and the jobholder will be required to demonstrate well-developed judgment.

Problem solving skills will be required to deliver products and solutions in complex situations and at pace for a very high growth client base with bespoke needs.

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

You will be required to identify and articulate risks, to highlight risk to appropriate colleagues and to do so pro-actively, transparently and in a timely manner.

Person Specification

As a FinTech & PSPs Relationship Director, your will display a natural sense of curiosity and willingness to continually develop yourself through formal and informal learning in order to develop your understanding of the clients that we work with.

Content working in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will be a true team player and keen to share ideas and best practice with your peers.

You are sales and result driven, able to demonstrate sound leadership qualities and to effectively influence others.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

·The Fintech team has a FinTech Training and Accreditation Plan in place, which the successful candidate will be expected to complete as a priority after joining in order to gain specific knowledge of how we cover clients in this sector.

·The candidate should be already experienced in leading complex client relationships and/or in a coverage role with exposure to complex clients and has a demonstrable ability to support such relationships with confidence.

·Requires a good knowledge of corporate banking products and services including those linked to cash management and FX solutions being particularly relevant to the role.

·Credit Skills are required.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

·Leadership of others.

·Understanding of Fintech and regulated Non-Bank Payment Service Providers market, the different client types we serve.

·Experience of dealing with High Risk client sectors.

·The working language of the team is English and you must be proficient communicator in both verbal and written form. Additional language skills are a benefit, but not required.
