Barclays Wealth Management is building the next generation of digital wealth experiences, creating simpler, smarter and more personalised journeys that help clients make better financial decisions with confidence. As an AVP Data Scientist, you will support feature teams by using analytics, experimentation and customer insight to understand what is working, where clients experience friction and how journeys can be improved. This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with Product, Research and Design colleagues, turning data into practical recommendations that support better decision-making, stronger client outcomes and the responsible use of insight in a regulated wealth environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support analytics and measurement across digital wealth journeys and feature team initiatives.
  • Build dashboards, analysis and insight packs to track performance, outcomes and client journey health.
  • Analyse customer behaviour, journey drop-off, conversion, engagement and adoption trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to test-and-learn activity, experimentation and journey optimisation.
  • Partner with Product, Research and Design teams to combine qualitative and quantitative insight.
  • Identify opportunities for personalisation, simplification and improved user experience.
  • Ensure analysis is robust, explainable and aligned to risk, control and regulatory expectations.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in data science, analytics, digital performance, customer insight, experimentation, or related disciplines, with the ability to work effectively with large datasets.
  • Strong analytical capability, including analysing customer behaviour, conversion, engagement, adoption, and digital journey performance to generate actionable recommendations.
  • Knowledge of digital journey metrics, customer behaviour analysis, and product measurement to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain technical findings and insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Curious, evidence-led, and collaborative approach, with the ability to partner across Product, Research, Design, and Technology teams while balancing pace, accuracy, and appropriate controls.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in financial services, wealth management, banking, fintech, or other regulated environments.
  • Interest in AI, personalisation, and leveraging data to enhance client and digital experiences.
  • Exposure to experimentation, A/B testing, test-and-learn methodologies, and journey optimisation techniques.
  • Experience developing dashboards, insight packs, or performance reporting for digital products and customer journeys.
  • Understanding of wealth, investing, advice, and guidance journeys, with experience working in cross-functional product teams and simplifying complex decisions for clients.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

The role can based out of London, Glasgow, Northampton or Knutsford

Purpose of the role

To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources.
  • Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis.
  • Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
  • Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science.

They will identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
