Embark on a transformative journey as an Active Directory Engineer.  At Barclays, our vision is clear –to redefine the future of banking and help craft innovative solutions. As a part of the Active Directory Team, you will be part of one the most critical IT services in the company providing authentication and authorization for users along with being key underlying platform for successful Desktop/Server computing. The Active Directory team is responsible for Architecture and Design of Active Directory service end to end. Including designing or assessing Domain designs, deployments, assessing risks and management of authentication services. The Team is distributed across the globe and operates in follow the sun arrangement. A supportive team of diverse backgrounds and skilled professionals.

To be successful as an Active Directory Engineer, you should:

  • Experience with Windows Server Operating System (2012/2016/2019) configuration, performance management and troubleshooting on both physical and virtual environment.

  • Experience in supporting Active Directory services in a Multi-Forest environment running on Windows 2012/2016/2019 with key focus on LDAP, Group Policy (GPO), DNS, NTLM, Kerberos and Certificates. Understanding Key AD roles and how to troubleshoot. AD Domain Controller Performance, Replication.  AD Trusts, Sites and Services are something person has worked with and is familiar with.

  • Ability to orient themselves quickly even in topics that might be new. Importantly being able to summarize back to audience what was discussed, decisions and actions or next steps required.

Other highly valued skills include:

  • Previous experience with other technologies that could help in solving business or IT challenges – Virtualization, Cloud, Networks, Storage, Orchestration, other technologies.

  • Quest vendor Active Directory related toolset experience

  • PowerShell knowledge. Had applied scripting to solve IT Admin challenges. Scaling getting information or getting something done across multiple assets.

  • Microsoft certification in the Windows Server OS or Active Directory space

This role is located in Whippany, New Jersey

Purpose of the role

To develop, and evolve the banks technology architecture through relevant solutions, strategies and execution plans aligned to and prioritized by business and technology objectives, including the development, evolution and adoption of foundational platforms and products. 

Accountabilities

  • Development, evolution and implementation of the banks technology architecture and strategies aligned to the business and technology objectives, unlocking execution and run.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders, including Enterprise Architecture teams and other developers to provide subject matter expertise and share knowledge to foster continuous improvement, and clients to understand and deliver on their technical needs.
  • Motivation and leadership of a diverse collection of technologists, business and operations teams and enterprise leaders, with goal to align business & technology strategy & standards, identifying opportunities and connecting people.
  • Assessment of new technologies to address current and future business needs, through a combination of curiosity and problem-solving skills.
  • Determination of the optimal solutions while balancing continuous requirements imposed by compliance, governance, security and funding, through deep understanding of the business and customer outcomes and maintaining a strong and steady grasp on the underlying technologies.
  • Monitoring and analysis of the performance, resiliency and stability of applications to identify and resolve issues and communicate and document key findings to stakeholders.
  • Compliance with applicable regulatory standards and identification of industry developments that may impact the banks operations and controls to enhance the banks application portfolio.
  • Support of engineering and architecture community initiatives to mentor team members, streamline operations, share and grow knowledge.

  • Make evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail.
  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents.
  • Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex / sensitive information.
  • Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.
