Overall, this role aims to ensure that the documentation for trust and fiduciary structures are prepared appropriately on timely basis in conjunction with Barclays Legal / empaneled law firms
▪ The role holder shall also contribute to the client deliverables by interacting with clients & prospects and be able to document the structuring solutions and demonstrate Barclays Trust & Fiduciary Services proposition in India especially from knowledge, experience, expertise and efficient client service delivery perspective.
▪ The role holder is expected to have good understating of estate/succession planning, trusts (private family trusts, employee benefit trusts)
▪The role holder shall have an oversight of risk related compliances, risk assessments of the structures

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
• Degree in Law (minimum requirement)
• Drafting/detailed understanding of legal documentation particularly in the Trust & Fiduciary Services segment

• Understanding of SEBI/RBI regulations

This role is based in Mumbai.

Overall purpose of role

  • The role holder shall also contribute to the commercial objectives of business by interacting with clients & prospects and be able to demonstrate the USP of Barclays Trust & Fiduciary Services proposition in India especially from knowledge, experience, expertise, operations and efficient client service delivery perspective
  • Overall, this role aims to ensure that the documentation for trust and fiduciary structures are prepared appropriately on timely basis in conjunction with Barclays Legal
  • The role holder’s will be engaging with prospects & clients on their structuring requirements and pitching India Trust & Fiduciary services proposition. 

Key Accountabilities

The role holder is responsible for:

Provide structuring solutions to clients to address their wealth structuring needs, promoter liquidity planning. Drafting / reviewing Trust and Fiduciary Documents in conjunction with legal team Engage with prospects & clients on overall India Trust & Fiduciary services proposition both onshore and overseas particularly in relation to tax implications. To have comprehensive understanding of sub functions like Fiduciary Risk, Business Risk, Compliance, Operations, Client on boarding, etc and how their processes and resources interact to achieve the objective of efficient and effective client delivery for Trust business. To be responsible and liaise with internal & external stakeholders for various activities pertaining to client structures and platform delivery & execution. To manage relationship with key trust clients and addressing their needs in respect of asset infusion, distributions, etc. The role holder shall demonstrate a broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts & principles of Indian Trust & Fiduciary services industry by identifying and resolving issues that could have an impact beyond the said scope of services. Engage with KBI, Intermediary network and build a sustainable framework around their relationship management & delivery. The role holder will ensure innovative as well as effective solutions for both platform and client related queries by interacting and collaborating with various internal stake holders and external stake holders e.g. legal firms to interpret problems, carry out research (where required either on his own or through a internal or external stake holder)

The role holder will interact with (A) all internal stakeholders & senior management, Trust & Fiduciary Front Office, Trust Operations team, accounts & tax team, auditors, (B) external stakeholders viz. legal advisors, law firms, external auditors, accounting/tax consultants and the clients.   The role holder is expected to have good interpersonal skills.

The role holder is expected to be action oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement in all areas of work and should be able to deliver quality results with a challenging but positive and influential style. 

The right candidate is creative but pragmatic, conceptual, but able to deliver at speed.  The successful candidate is able to successfully manage relationships at a senior level, with a reputation for integrity and who can evoke rapid trust and openness in clients, colleagues and team members alike.

The role holder understands and deals with customers and non-customers from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and is constantly alert as many customers originate from environments of high operational risk. Excellent communication skills are required to maintain positive relationships across a number of different functions

Person Specification

The role holder is required to have an up-to-date and in-depth understanding of the Trust & fiduciary business in India and key issues facing the Trust & Fiduciary services industry.

The role holder is required to have a detailed understand of tax laws, structuring of M&A transactions and  liquidity planning.

She / He should have a detailed understanding of Trust & Fiduciary products and services in India.

The role holder should demonstrate experience in management, drive implementation of cultural change and hold a good grounding of economic and commercial awareness at International level.

At this level the role holder should have strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships both internally and externally, and across multi-jurisdictions. Along with proven relationship management and networking skills, the role holder possesses an excellent track record of building a high performing team, through recruitment of ‘A’ players and strong management of under performers.
