Join us as a " India Travel Manager” as part of the Service Management function of Travel and Expense We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Corporate Travel Manager to oversee our corporate travel program in Indiaand alsosupport APAC Travel Lead in managing travel operations across other Asia markets. This role involves managing end-to-end travel operations, including air travel, hotel accommodations, visa processes, and ground transportation, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional service delivery.

The successful candidate will support supplier management, stakeholder engagement, technology oversight, and driving operational excellence while ensuring compliance with internal policies, GST reconciliation, and external regulations.

In this strategic role, you will focus on optimizing costs, improving processes, enhancing traveler experiences, and managing Senior Management travel requirements with a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy. You will collaborate with the appointed travel management company (TMC) and online booking tool suppliers to monitor and improve service delivery by developing KPI and SLA frameworks.

Given the complexities of APAC travel, including local regulations, tax implications (GST), and compliance requirements, this role demands a proactive and hands-on approach to delivering specialized oversight and operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities

Travel Operations Management:

Oversee day-to-day corporate travel operations across air, hotel, visa, and ground transportation.

Implement, and manage travel policies ensuring compliance, cost control, and traveler satisfaction.

Manage SVIP (Senior Very Important Person) travel requests with discretion and precision, ensuring smooth execution and personalized service.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide travel solutions, balancing cost-efficiency with traveler comfort.

Monitor travel booking compliance, address policy deviations, and implement corrective actions.

Develop frameworks for managing complex travel request , multi-region travel, and urgent travel needs.

Supplier & Vendor Management:

Work with the Travel and Expense team to identify, evaluate, and manage travel service providers (airlines, hotels, visa agencies, ground transportation) to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services.

Conduct performance reviews and audits of travel related suppliers, ensuring compliance with KPI and SLA requirements.

Drive continuous improvement through supplier innovation and emerging travel technologies to enhance service delivery

Financial Oversight & Compliance:

Ensure accurate and timely vendor payments and manage the purchase order (PO) process.

Oversee GST reconciliation and tax compliance, ensuring accurate filing and adherence to regulatory standards.

Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to track travel expenditures, maintain budget control, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Ensure audit readiness by maintainingaccurate records of invoices, reconciliations, and approvals.

Identify and resolve discrepancies in payments, vendor invoices, and travel-related spend.

Stakeholder Management:

Engage with senior leadershipto align travel strategies with broader business objectives.

Serve as the primary point of contact for executive-level stakeholders, ensuring travel needs are met with professionalism and accuracy.

Provide consultation for managing large-scale events, conferences, and executive travel.

Lead regular reviews with Travel lead to report on travel performance, metrics, and areas for improvement.

Travel Technology & Process Optimization:

Oversee and manage corporate travel technology platforms, ensuring smooth functionality and adoption.

Evaluate and implement travel booking systems, expense management tools, and reporting platforms to enhance efficiency.

Identify process bottlenecks and implement improvement strategies to streamline workflows, enhance user experience, and reduce turnaround time.

Ensure integration of travel systems with financial platforms for accurate reporting and data analysis.

Strategic Leadership & Policy Development:

Support to develop and implement a comprehensive travel strategy aligned with business objectives.

Establish frameworks for risk management and duty of care, prioritizing traveler safety and compliance.

Design and enforce travel policies that optimize costs, reduce leakage, and enhance traveler experience.

Analyze travel trends, market insights, and benchmarking data to implement best practices.

Support business continuity planning to ensure seamless travel during disruptions or emergencies.

Additional Responsibilities:

Deliver best-in-class travel operations across the APAC region, with a primary focus on India.

Engage directly with travelers, executive assistants, and internal stakeholders to resolve queries and ensure compliance with travel policies.

Foster strong relationships with the Barclays user group and global travel teams, providing feedback and insights to enhance service levels.

Collaborate with the TMC and Online Booking Tool (OBT) on quarterly reviews to drive performance improvements.

Support incident response for travel disruptions (e.g., weather, security).

Provide end-to-end support for VIP and Executive Travel, ensuring real-time coordination and crisis management capabilities.

Person Specification

Subject matter expertise in delivering operational excellence across the APAC and India regions.

Proven ability to deliver exceptional service to colleagues and stakeholders.

Experience managing KPIs and SLAs to monitor and report on service performance.

Strong vendor management skills, with a deep understanding of cultural and operational differences.

Empathy and cultural sensitivity while maintaining consistency in global Travel & Expense (T&E) programs.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with flexibility to address urgent requests.

Purpose of the role

To monitor existing Barclays supplier relationships and operations to mitigate risk to the Bank and our customers.

Accountabilities

  • Management of existing Barclays suppliers relationships by developing Management Information (MI) that meets the needs of the bank and complies with quality and control standards.
  • Development of service level agreements to guide service delivery aligned to time efficiency and support the monitoring of service performance.
  • Collaboration with various stakeholder groups to align services to the clients’ needs and the banks objectives.
  • Development and execution of service improvement initiatives that improve service efficiency and competitive advantage in the marketplace.
