Join us as a Test Automation Lead at Barclays where you will spearhead the evolution of our API First digital strategy, driving innovation and operational excellence. You will harness cutting-edge technology to build and manage robust, scalable, and secure APIs, ensuring seamless delivery of our digital solutions. 

To be successful in this role, you must have:

Advanced expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-level test automation strategies and frameworks.

Demonstrated leadership in establishing testing standards, methodologies, and best practices across complex platforms.

Extensive experience developing comprehensive test plans, test strategies, and quality metrics for large-scale applications.

Expert knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools including Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit, TestNG, and REST-assured.

Proven experience leading automation for multi-layered testing: UI, API, database, performance, and security testing.

Deep understanding of CI/CD integration for automated testing like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.

Experience implementing BDD/TDD methodologies and coaching teams on test-driven development practices.

Strong expertise in performance testing methodologies and tools (JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner) for high-throughput systems.

Experience designing and implementing test automation for microservices architectures and distributed systems.

Advanced knowledge of API testing strategies, tools, and security validation techniques.

Ability to establish quality gates and enforce testing standards using tools like SonarQube and Veracode.

Experience leading test automation in Agile/DevOps environments with focus on continuous testing.

Strong technical leadership capabilities with experience mentoring junior testers and conducting effective test reviews.

Proficient with test management tools like JIRA, Xray or similar.

Demonstrated ability to communicate testing strategies effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and testing containerized applications.

Experience with advanced database testing techniques and performance optimization.

Knowledge of security testing methodologies and tools (OWASP, Penetration Testing).

Experience with service virtualization and mock services for testing (WireMock, Mockito).

Working knowledge of ITIL-based release and change management processes.

Experience implementing test analytics and quality metrics dashboards.

Understanding of chaos engineering principles and resilience testing.

The role is based out of Pune.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability.

Accountabilities

Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
Creation and execution automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues.         .
Collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
