Join Barclays as an Equity Strategist. In this role, you will develop and maintain financial models, identify market trends, and generate actionable investment insights for institutional clients. You will work closely with sector analysts, economists, and macro strategists to produce high-impact research and contribute to the development of innovative equity strategies. Identify trends, stock screening, portfolio optimization and back-testing strategies. Collaborate with equity sector analysts, economists, and cross-asset strategy teams to develop recurring patterns and tactical investment ideas. Write research reports that are marketed to institutional clients (equity mutual funds, hedge funds, pension funds/endowments/sovereign wealth funds). Develop views by blending fundamental assessment, robust evaluative frameworks, quantitative and qualitative views.

To be successful as an Equity Strategist, you should have experience with:

  • Experience in data evaluation or fundamental equity/credit research, or another research-oriented field

  • Broad understanding of macro-economic data and implications, as well as fundamental, and technical, indicators for equity markets

  • Ability to sift through business, trade, and industry publications to identify key industry & macro themes driving the market or a particular sector

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Excellent communication and writing skills; good sense of mental curiosity; collaborative mindset; attention to detail

  • Proficiency in organizing, evaluating and working with large data sets Python, R, SQL and present findings Excel, Tableau, PowerPoint

  • FINRA Licensed: Series 7, 63, 86 & 87

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role is regulated by FINRA.

Minimum Salary: $125,000

Maximum Salary: $175,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

To be eligible, applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Purpose of the role

To produce and deliver Research with differentiated market insights and actionable ideas to Barclays Clients. 

Accountabilities

  • Analysis of market, sector, corporate and/or economic data to help develop investment theses for your coverage universe to produce best in class Research.
  • Research may range from individual company or sector notes, through to long dated thematic reports.
  • Presentation of Research views to Barclays Clients; this can be through direct, face to face and virtual interactions, Research hosted events and written communications.
  • Engagement with Markets, Client Strategy and other stakeholders, to raise awareness of your Research both to Clients and internally. Prioritise interaction with the most relevant and valuable Clients for your Research.
  • Provision of insights and Research views to internal Clients to help them navigate financial markets and risks.
  • Collaboration with the Supervisory Analyst, Compliance and other stakeholders to ensure Research is produced and delivered to Clients and internal stakeholders in a compliant manner.

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
