A role in Markets involves trading financial instruments, such as bonds, stocks, and derivatives. You'll also arrange capital raisings, manage debt and equity issuances, and structure, execute, and syndicate transactions for clients.

Our broad, integrated product offering in financing, execution, clearing and custody services across a number of asset classes has allowed us to develop into a global, strategically important Prime Broker.

Join Barclays and become part of the APAC Liquid Financing Product team, where you will play a pivotal role in the Product Development for our equity, derivative and fixed income products within the Liquid Financing Prime Brokerage business.

  • Be a Subject Matter Expert for the Liquid Financing Business from front to back (products, trading strategies, market regulations, platform design and post-trade processes).

  • Design and drive implementation of product/platform solutions in response to client and internal stakeholder issues/requirements, as well as market and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure that all product development activities are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Barclays operational risk framework and internal Barclays policies and standards.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of how trading business operate - from execution, risk management, financing and clearing business activities to the Regulatory environment impacting them.

  • A resourceful, self- motivated team player who is able to escalate appropriately when required and has strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate at all levels and across multiple areas within the firm.

  • Ability to develop effective solutions to support new business initiatives, market and regulatory changes.

  • Oversee escalations closely where infrastructure teams are involved (i.e. IT, Operations).

  • Ability to make decisions with a client centric and a risk & control centric mindset.

Purpose of the role

To develop, launch, and manage the portfolio of financial products and services for the global markets, collaborating with a team of product managers, traders, risk managers, and other stakeholders to define product strategies, develop roadmaps, and bring new products to market, also playing a key role in gathering and analysis of market intelligence, identifying client needs, and developing competitive differentiators. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and execution of product strategy for financial products and services offered within the Markets division.
  • Identification of market opportunities and customer needs to create new products or enhance existing ones.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including traders, sales, risk management, and technology, to define product requirements.
  • Market data analysis to make informed decisions regarding product positioning and pricing.
  • Management of the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and ongoing maintenance.
  • Monitoring of product performance, through analysing metrics and client feedback.

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will be a subject matter expert within own discipline and will guide technical direction. They will lead collaborative, multi-year assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
