Step into the role of AVP - Prime Derivative Services at Barclays, where you'll provide first-class support by conducting in-depth due diligence, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and safeguarding our clients and organization with expertise and care.

The role in the Prime Derivatives department is expected to understand the working of the OTC product and Understand the risk in the product. Design controls to ensure the risk is captured and is well articulated and also draw a plan to have the same resolved. Prime Derivative Services a part of the wider IBMO team is responsible for processing of Listed and OTC/Futures products. The process includes Reconciliation, Client services, Trade Capture and UT Controls.

You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role such as:

  • Review and perform the system reconciliation function. All differences have to be investigated, escalated and cleared within agreed timescales.

  • Strong understanding of different exchanges and the OTC product.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Middle Office environment and the front-to-back processes to perform the BAU daily tasks, such as Reconciliations, Liaising with different team to get issues resolved, Trade Bookings, UT controls.

  • Fostering excellent working relationship with internal counterparts (i.e. Senior Management, IT, Desk, Sales team, TCU, Settlements, Finance).

  • Strong/Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complicated issues to management and other impacted areas and ensure timely resolution of breaks and issues.

  • Challenge processes in order to achieve more effective processes and efficiency saves to the firm.

  • Building and maintaining good internal and external relationships to aide with fluency of process.

  • Daily breaks management with interaction with the internal team and escalation to management where required to highlight risk.

  • Responsible for the effective management and resolution of queries and breaks by exercising strong judgment and decision making skills.

  • Show ability for streamlining process flows and solid problem solving skills, while providing flexibility for change management when necessary.

Desirable Skillsets:

  • Excellent understanding of front to back system architecture and end to end processes and controls.

  • Passionate about continuous improvements, leading by example and using their network of contacts to both improve their personal and team performance, identify areas for process improvement and ensure successful delivery of projects.

  • Good Knowledge and understanding of Prime OTC products

  • Ability to network and build rapport and credibility quickly with a variety of key stakeholders (FO, Ops Senior Management, IT).

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, including and not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Self-Starter, Confident and Proactive.

  • Desire to make an impact.

  • Time Management and deadline delivery.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Innovative with a proven track record of implementing change to drive process improvements.

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution. 

Accountabilities

  • Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.

  • Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.

  • Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.

  • Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.

  • Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.

  • Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.

  • Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.

  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.

  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
