Join us as a Laws, Rules and Regulations Risk Oversight Operations VP Team at Barclays, where you will spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence. You will harness cutting-edge technology to revolutionize our digital offerings, ensuring unparalleled customer experiences. You will work in close partnership with the Head of LRO Office and Operations to help define the India team’s book of work and direct the day‑to‑day activities of the LRO India team, ensuring delivery is aligned to LRO priorities and the wider LRR Risk Management framework. You will also play a key role in shaping the future operating model for the LRO India Hub.

The team will be responsible for conducting testing on core aspects of the LRR Risk Management framework. This includes ownership of the LRO Verification Checks framework, as well as conducting, overseeing, and reporting on testing across other LRO activities to drive consistency, quality and continuous improvement. The Team will also be responsible for supporting LRR Risk governance forums, validating management information, and contributing to senior management reporting to support effective oversight and decision‑making.

As part of your role, you will also support the Head of LRO Office and Operations with the Digital Adoption agenda, helping to identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance management information and embed the effective use of digital and automation tools across the LRO India Hub and wider team

You will also have day to day responsibility for leading and developing the LRO India team, setting clear objectives, and managing performance in line with LRO priorities and standards.

To be successful as a Laws, Rules and Regulations Risk Oversight Operations VP team, you should have experience with:

Basic/ Essential Qualifications:

  • A curious mindset, with a willingness to join the dots across processes, data and teams to identify themes, issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information succinctly and clearly to stakeholders of different grades.

  • Experience independently managing and directing a portfolio of work for a team.

  • A strong understanding of the LRR Risk Management framework and wider risk and control frameworks.

Desirable skill-sets/ good to have:

  • Confidence using technology and digital tools, including AI, to improve ways of working and enhance delivery

  • Strong risk management mindset with experience conducting independent reviews, checks or testing of processes.

This role will be based out of Pune.

Purpose of the role

To define the approach for managing Laws, Rules and Regulations (LRR) Risk across the organisation and provide data-led expert oversight and check and challenge on LRR Risk Management, to support adherence with applicable Laws, Rules and Regulations.  

Accountabilities

  • Definition and maintenance of the framework for managing LRR Risk, including the LRR Risk Management Policy and Standard.
  • Collaboration with teams across the organisation to facilitate a comprehensive approach to LRR Risk management.
  • Provision of SME guidance on the end-to-end process for managing LRR Risk, including responding to colleague queries.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to assess the level of LRR Risk in the organisation and ensure appropriate steps are in place to identify and support the remediation of potential LRR non-adherence.
  • Provision of oversight, checking and challenging on the implementation of LRR Risk Management Control Requirements and Controls, through reviews of relevant team processes, activities, reporting and systems.
  • Review and investigation of LRR Risk related escalations, risk events and issues, providing corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future occurrences.
  • Operation of key Compliance processes to support the implementation of LRR Risk Management.

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
