As part of the Finance team, you'll help shape Barclays' financial strategy through accounting, budgeting, financial forecasting, and analysis. Your expertise will support management, cash and debt management, and insurance, driving the financial health and success of the organisation.

Director Expectations

  • Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide..
  • Work collaboratively to drive progress in the team, embedding the performance culture and role modelling Barclays values and behaviours to:
    • Mentor and coach others to be open, honest, and reliable, provide constructive, open, and timely feedback to support personal and career development of others to achieve their full potential.
    • Identify and develop talent and develop succession plans.

  • Seek to increase all aspects of diversity in their area through the decisions they make and the attitudes they promote, challenging the attitudes of others were necessary.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.

Accountabilities

  • Lead effective and efficient audit teams to achieve results in delivery, determining and delivering against agreed metrics including budget, delivery, and objectives. This includes leading audit teams to provide effective assurance with insightful audit results.
  • Have deep understanding of finance processes including Financial Reporting, and Valuation Control.
  • Support the Portfolio Manager to define and execute the appropriate coverage strategy and audit plan for the Finance Function.
  • Lead discussions with business management regarding audit observations and issues, consult with relevant BIA MDs/Directors where applicable.
  • Responsible for managing stakeholder relationships with the Bank’s Finance team globally. Attend, as required, Committees and forums within the Finance space, globally.
  • Support the Portfolio Manager to produce concise and insightful commentary for reporting to the Board and Regulators.
  • Share industry knowledge including the key regulatory requirements and emerging developments.
  • Analyze trends, identify gaps, and make links between regulatory landscape, emerging trends, and risks.
  • Support delivery of BIA Strategy and its pillars.
